  1. Nice rig the "long nosed" Iveco. Don't see many long nosed lorries in Scotland other than the odd long nosed Sciania's
  2. Question - why do you use 4 wheeled bogies oppossed to 2 wheelers. Is it to carry more weight.? I have tried reversing with such a bogie and ended up in knots. Mind you I suppose practice makes perfection.
  3. I would second that but then I'm bias since I'm into restoring some of the older International Farmalls. I hear what you are saying about money and lack of engineering skills but I got lots of different types of help over the years when restoring from friends relatives and fellow rally goers. It's amazing what people will do for you if they are interested in preservation and of course it helps when you hand them a bottle of whisky for theire efforts!!!!
  4. You took the words right out of my mouth Lady Farmer. Its the very same here in Aberdeen.
  5. Yes I think it would have been one of the bigger ones the 674 or 574. I remember they were comfortable to drive and had a nice cab layout. The other thing I recall about them was the torque amplifier and didn't they have symbols of tortoise for slow and hare for fast or something like that?
  6. Looking good IH454MAN. I remember driving one of the larger ones in the IH series probably in the late 70's early 80's - P reg I recall Those were the ones with the syncromesh gears down the side weren't they??
  7. That's not bad going I would have expected it to take longer. A really wonderful job and is a credit to you. I agree I wouldn't let your son get his hands on it until he's older and appreciates what a real craftsman his father was.
  8. You said to ask questions well this one might be hard to answer but how many man hours do you think you would have spent to produce this model ? and what value would you put on it
  9. I attach the e-mail address for Dave Towse since i couldn't not get into his website earlier with the link I posted. dave@britains.karoo.co.uk
  10. I think this should be the link to DT's website http://www.britainstoyfarm.co.uk/
  11. Raining cats and dogs here in Aberdeen but looks like things will improve by Thursday.
  12. I read in the current issue of Classic Tractor the Ford 5095 made ? 4,250,not far short of the reserve the auctioners told me the owner was expecting.
  13. I adore the first picture the horse and the tractor working alongside each other in the same field. Reminds me of my latest Border Fine Art purchase earlier this month called "Old Meets New". In this figurine there is a horse and cart and one old cart wheel had sheared off. Two guys come to the rescue with an Orange standard Fordson and load the bags from the horse cart to the tractor cart.

Old newspapers certainly have their uses John. Looking forward to seeing more pictures as you progress with the restoration.

    Marshall trailer

I would have thought they were a large enough manufacturer for the likes of Britains to take on especially since Frasers of Rothienorman closed down.
  16. Another sunny day here in Aberdeen - just like yesterday.

    INTERNATIONAL's

    I'll 3rd that Sparrow Legd
  19. Wow that is some collection you have got there Brian. Have you considered putting on a display at the BA Event in the model tent this week-end? On the other hand that is a silly question since I suspect you would need an articulated curtainsider to get it there and a large marquee to hold it all !!!
  20. Frosty start but the sun is starting to break through here in Aberdeen.

    Ploughing 13.5.07

Thanks for the link with the spec of the 300 Tim. No wonder I havenrt seen one in Britain I didn't realise they were only produced over such a short period. That looks to be a good website.
  22. I like the photos Tim. It so nice to see the older tractors of other countries. Please keep them coming if you can.
  23. You certainly would not get those tractors for that price in Britain.

One look at that tractor and you can tell by the rear wheels and exhaust its not an model M. Have you any details on the 300 I've never seen one accross in this country.

    1963 Nuffield 4/60

Yes Gavin get those Nuffys into 5th and they can motor. In my younger day I remember pulling the throttle out past the notch and right back. The MPH counter at that stage started going round the clock again. I've mellowed in years and am scared of blowing the old girl up and keep the throttle up to the notch at max nowadays but I recokon that you still get about 18MPH at that position. The hour and MPH don't work anymore. I tried a new cable but that didn't work. I was speaking to a guy who used to work on them and he said it was probably the mechanism up front. I must get back with him and try and get that fixed.
