1972farming
I am collecting Britains models again and loving it. As some of you will remember I used to have a few nice old Fordsons etc. I sold them all to get back into different things and regretted selling them after a bit. Its great fun collecting them second time around. I only have a few at the moment .
1972farming
Another one, why oh why did I sell all the others ???
FNHIR
It probably seemed like a good idea at the time, you have all this stuff and it's not doing anything, you're thinking, 'Imagine how much I'd have if I sold it'. Then it's gone and you miss it :'(
1972farming
You're right there. I got to the stage where I had collected more or less one of each of the Fordsons made from 1948 to 1965 and got a bit bored with actually owning them. That may sound daft but I actually enjoy the looking for models and finding them more than the owning. I won't sell the nice ones again if I get them though. Udimore
Welcome back Steve... Glad to see that your great taste is back.. Keep buying mate.. How do the prices compare to 3 or 4 years ago on the classics ?
1972farming
I think its possible to buy rougher models cheaper than a few years ago but so far I have only been buying off ebay. We all know that ebay can be hit or miss. Sometimes you can get lucky and other times models fetch a lot of money. I am looking forward to getting around some toy fairs again. bigbear
Welcome back to a great hobby - I understand what you're saying about the thrill of the chase, by the way! Is that a Britains Arctic Pool box I see in the background of one of your shots? Do you collect the Britains Zoo range too? I have all three of the pool and pit models, but need a replacement fence/rail for the arctic one and a clump of weed for the tropical one to bring them up to spec. Any offers, please? 1972farming
I try and collect any old Britains stuff made before about 1970 really. I ahve recently been buying a few soldiers and cowboys and indians made by herald. I know they are a bit off topic but I like them. I like the Farm first followed by the zoo then anything else interesting. I must also add that reading a copy of the new model farmer magazine has had a huge impact on me too. A friend of mine gave me a copy of issue 4 and it inspired me to get back into collecting. What a great read.

1972farming
Thanks for the welcome back chaps. No more motocross for me Marky, just mountain bikes now. I still have an old cr 125 which I restored a couple of years ago(and raced twice last year) but I don't ride any more. My knees are a bit troublesome but I can manage riding a push bike fine. It feels good to be on the hunt again for these old fordsons. I may find room for a few old reds as well Marky !

1972farming
more up to date photos. Bought a nice old DDN Power major yesterday from the Malvern toyfair. First time I've been for about 5 years, really enjoyed getting out and finding stuff instead of just combing ebay for bargains.

THEBRITFARMER
Cracking stuff Steve and thanks for sharing them, I particularly like the lead stuff. Very nice and I see you are getting out of OO trains as well. Got my eye on (hopefully) a bargain
1972farming
Yes, I had a buying spree around christmas time gathering Hornby trains etc. My heart lies in the Britains Herald models of the olden days though really. I even bought some timber to start building a big layout.............probably use it for shelves now ! The problem I have had with selling the trains is that i don't really know anything about them. I have tried to take good photos and be honest with descriptions. The stuff i have sold has been well received though. I only have track left now to list. Herald are nice also, I still have a few of the animals left to pick up, mainly the rabbits, cats and a few of the people. I recently dug out my Hornby train from when I was a kid and it sparked an interest again, think I may try and recreate the layout I once had.
