pistol pete
next up was to wash down by trailer and get her all check ie lights tyres and that none of the rams were leaking on the back of my trusty beast who much of a tease is this while emptying a load
pistol pete
first day of cutting as always is a bit of a rush we had to grease the combine up which means me climbing to get all the hard reaching one. then I headed to drop of the header at pebbles. while I was doing that Frankie was ploughing with the other 6830 the old girl in her 8th season at firhills talk of it maybe being her last but we will see but newer newholland having being talked about but a max header of 22ft as we bale all the straw
pistol pete
the first field we cut was at 18% so we decided to dry it down a bit not much and give the dryer a fire up before it maybe needed in real anger and this is what we used to power it bit of over kill, 80 000 to power a dryer. next week will be the 6830 and I will be back to my real job gutted. pistol pete
well the second last field I was in was the best field we had cut it was a 16 acre field, we managed to get 4 trailers like this out of it. the trailer is a 14tonner not saying we had 14 ton on it but at least 12 1/2 which would give us over 3 ton to the acre. to say jim had a smile on his face was an under statement. pistol pete
That new Deere Pete look very smart when will you get her on the road ? Many tractors do you run on the farm she is on the road tomorrow but have had to come home as I have work tomorrow, so will be a couple of weeks till I get her on the road, have a long weekend and I said I would go down to help with the sewing on the paddle rollers with the new machine. through the year we only run 2 tractors but every summer we hire another one in cant justify having 2 tractors sitting in a shed all winter not earning there keep. current fleet is 6150R 63 plate,6830 11plate and our old 6830 o8 plate as hire tractor. the hardest worked machine is our teleporter 527-55 on an 11 plate. and also we have our k plate 34tx. not the biggest fleet but keeps us ticking over. pistol pete
Well haven't been on here properly for a few years so thought I would update it a bit from this year. well I have actual bought a house at home and am spending a lot more time at the farm and also helping my mate out with his contracting business/haulage. so thought I would added a few more pictures. these pictures were taken from last few years harvest. Our fleet has changed a little bit over the past couple of years. We still run my 6150r on a 63 plate but our other 6830 was replaced with in 2016 with a 6140r also the old tx34 left the farm last year and was replaced by a New Holland CSX7060 with a 20 ft header and our JCB has been replaced by a Kramer 276 which is a very good machine.
