tractorboyjules1977
thanks dan , yeah were both pretty pleased with how its all working , we thought it was something a bit different ,plus we are only a couple of miles apart so makes a lot of sense
Light Land
I too like how 2 layouts cross over, very life like. Reading online about the state of English dairy farming this week doesn't paint a every good picture, will there be less cows at orchard ?
tractorboyjules1977
thanks ol , we try to follow the farming year as best as possible to make it as real as possible , yes reading stories on dairy farming doesn't feel you with too much confidance , but on the other hand we are guaranteed a pay cheque at the end of every month , and as with everything else it seems to be swings and roundabouts and what best suits your farm .but no there wont be less cows at orchard and on the other hand a massive increase in cow numbers isn't on the agenda either , but just a steady flow of 1st calving heifers coming through will keep things ticking along .
tractorboyjules1977
just a little update , with a break in the weather managed to get on with putting a bit on mop fert on 30 acres of winter barley , ground conditions proved to be not bad considering the changeable weather at the minute .Myself been down to Vaughan agri with the 828 to pick up a new Richard western , the 1st of a couple which have been ordered in for this years silage , also expecting a couple more new arrivals in the next week !

Light Land
Just a pain the spreader sits so far back hey Julian, it's a nice model apart from that.
tractorboyjules1977
yeah ol he does sit a bit further back than id like mite have to make a few slight alterations just to bring it in a bit , like you said quite impressive model otherwise , in my opinion the best mounted spreader out there at the moment
catkom3
Doesn't the UH linkage come off so it fits straight on Wiking style three point linkage,? Regards Joe.
tractorboyjules1977
well joe it has got a pin for the top link to fit in , but it hasn't got any pins for the link arms , or my one hasn't ! got some a frames knocking about so mite just take the old britains style linkage off and mount the a frame
catkom3
Hi Julian, been doing a wee bit of forum surfing, and got this photo, Translated what the guy did to get it to fit, makes no sense to me,but maybe with the model in front of you it will all add up, Hi Guys, since the spreader is made of metal, he has a pretty high weight and because of Sikuadapter as in the Amazon is quite long, I have the adapter by loosening the two screws removed.at the back but reindrehen not pull too hard, or the Wiking lower link does not fit.the top link of course does not fit, the Amazon, a pin is already inserted.Sulky when there is even one, but sitting too far back, close the container.I have a piece of paper clip trimmed and fixed with two drops of super glue.fit now a top link and the spreader adjusts Wiking models and does not project far out.Unfortunately, the spreader so does not fit manner because of the hitch are tight.but the adapter can indeed grow again.Greeting Roland Regards Joe.

tractorboyjules1977
1st of march , weve just been to collect a couple new toys ! Been down to redlynch and picked up our 2 new 724s , couldn't find no spare drivers so decided to go down with the low loader and bring them back in 1 hit , The 6930 jd has gone down to the farm and a 7530 has gone back as part x , Couldt really resist the deal so decided to bite the bullet and get geared up for the summer in good time , also just got the hedgetrimmer off and parked in the workshop ready for an overhaul for next autumn, on the plus side 95% of the hedgetrimming we managed to get done .

Niels
Are these the new S4 versions then or the 'old' 724 still?
tractorboyjules1977
they are the only 1 32 schuco make now , as the 1st edition ones are discontinued now ! the black version is a convo conversion and in my opinion looks stunning and really pleased with how hes turned out . we cant all be spot on with whats coming out in real life comparisons ! Paul Palmer
nice Julian, good 724's i am going to wait for the wiking versions, purely because of their realistic rear linkages
tractorboyjules1977
Out and about yesterday and today, we Decided to put the grass harrows on and work over some manure we put on the cow pastures a couple of weeks ago , also managed to hitch on the flat roller and pull he on out ready for next week when we start grass harrowing and rolling the silage grounds , all depending on the weather . At least we can keep one gang moving week in week out and that's the boys on the umbilical !!!
Light Land
how long do keep the grass down for?
tractorboyjules1977
Good question ol ,all a matter of grass mixture and up keep of nutrients on all our grounds , cow pastures are 99% permanent with the odd exception , the majority of the grass ground will only stay down for 3 - 4 years , again depending on mix with rye grass having a % of red clover included , also again depending on how the weather has been during the autumn and winter months and letting grass keep out for other farmers has as grass keep for sheep . Most of all comes down to grass management in the end
Niels
nice Julian, good 724's i am going to wait for the wiking versions, purely because of their realistic rear linkages Wiking aren't going to do a 724 are they? Or do you think the tractor under the cover is a 724 and not a 1050 (very unlikely?). I have just ordered UH's 724 S4! Julian: I meant are the models UHs updated version (724 S4) but I see from the windscreen wipers they are not.
tractorboyjules1977
niels they aren't uh as I mentioned before there schuco 724s ! I have seen the uh ones and do look pretty good , but every one seems to have all different release dates for them , but I do quite like the schuco models . T he question on the wiking 724 seems to be that no one seems to know wether they are or they aren't going to release a 724 , I guess were just have to wait
