alpinefocus Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Well i can tell you after visiting Dave's display you will have a hard job to do an arial shot for 3 reasons, one is lack of head room, two its so massive it would never fit in one shot! Struggle to get the grain storage setup in one pic let alone the whole thing and 3 its in several different spaces making good use of lots of different areas! A fantastic display stacked with loads of detail from workers cottages and lanes to fields, banks with shrubbery and plenty of kit to look at. dave the farmer Posted March 23, 2015 Author Share Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) been a busy 2wks for hawthorn farms.the team has finised drilling all the 1200 acres of spring barley,rolled up to.rape has had its 2nd dose of fert with sulphur.all wheats have had there 1st dose of n.grass harrowing and rolling going on.the 1300 acres of early cut rye grass are growing ok.got maize to go in after the grass is cut.pacifica herbicide went on some of our heavy land wheats.for blackgrass control,then the rape had its fungicide,mineral mix.then the forward wheats 800acres had there t0.fungicide,growth regulator,boron.manganese mix.the jd 7930 and 36m jd sprayer are off on the lackham estate on liquid ferti and spraying.we have got the contract for 2 yrs on this 5000acres of arable.we also do there 3500acres of ploughing,and some of the muck and slurry to.they run 2 case 8230s combines a 535 quadtrac a 775e challenger and 7 mfs.we also hire out one of our amazone centaurs to them,they run there own 8m vaderstad rapid jumbo drill on the challenger.i think i might have a demo of a case 8230 combine this year.though we have a new header for one of our jd s690i combines for a week or to and they need to do at least 1 more season.guys off spraying wth fastrac on bowser,ferti on wheat,jd 4955 on horsch,ewes and lambs off to fresh pasture,grass harrowing and injecting grass.another load of pig slurry been loaded up on joskin for maize grd,4955 cartin 360.culti press on ploughed grd.filling up the rogator with To spray.stichting in grass seed on pasture. dave the farmer Posted April 6, 2015 Author Share Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) some of the guys where off last wk and some are off this week.well those that are about have been.spining the last ferti on the rape.finshed off all the ploughing at lackham estate.have 1 more day of muck on last of our own heavy grd 4 maize.ploughing heavy grd 240 acres done.560 acres left to plough.got some new customers on the silage front.2 farms in glos,1 has about 500 acres of grass and 100acres of maize.the other 200 grass 50a maize.the other 2 are in wilts and hampshire totalling about 500a maize and 1000 acres of grass.iv'e done a deal on a triple set of claas disco 9100c mowers from mill engineering at pewsey wilts. also done a deal for a krone forage box twin axle.with barnes agri.and have bought a nother jcb 7230 fastrac.have got a 10m simba x press which will go on the challenger on stubbles in the summer and plough to.getting kit ready for silage.got 1300acres of early italian ryegrass after last yrs wheat.hope 2 cut last wk of april as all of it is going into maize.if the weather lets us that is. dave the farmer Posted April 19, 2015 Author Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Well with the weather looking good for a bit and the long range forecast for showers.hawthorn farms made a start on ground going into maize after a early cut of grass.on some contract grd last Friday.we cut with our jd 8360r on claas/Kuhn triples and a jd7930 on a kuhn /claas triples and our old krone big m .tedding out with a jd 3050/claas 11rotor Voltol and a jd 3140 on Kuhn 4 rotor Tedder.a jd 6150r on a claas liner rake ,claas jag 980 chopping,2jcb 7230 fastracs and 14t rw silage trailers,jd 7430 and rw 14t ,2 jd 6930 and 12t rw silage. Clamp,jcb 416s albut fork.jcb 310s rolling.also today the muck and slurry started going on.pics to follow. dave the farmer Posted April 26, 2015 Author Share Posted April 26, 2015 (edited) a very busy week last wk.1300 acres of early cut grass has been finished,mown, chopped and clamped.we also started drilling maize in hampshire,on the 17th april.900 acres are in. with 500acres having a pre emergence spray so far.muck,slurry has gone on 800acres so far and 480 acres of ploughing on the early cut grass stubbles. we also sprayed the 1700 acres of rape with a mid flowering fungicide.we hope to start the main silage this wk . we also got our t1 spray on our wheats the wk of the 14th april.trying out a new mini bowser,pics soon. dave the farmer Posted May 19, 2015 Author Share Posted May 19, 2015 Well we applied for planning permission 4 a plant last autumn.we got a decision on pre-planning application.highways are ok with it,just Got to build a higher soil screen around the site.got a e mail from the ad company today.saying the due to the government cutting back On subsidies for renewable energy.the ad plant will be put on the back burner for the time being.the energy company have said they will lobby the government on restoring higher subsidies.
