Andy
I'm currently going through a client's collection of PO / Telecom images for a future auction and came across this unusual County. Anyone seen the real deal or know any more about this machine?
Tractorman810
i can try someone who used to be a trainer up centre in stone if you want andy, he was arround when we used that roadless tractor and a likes. he used to do the mole plough course so this is in the same area so to speak
Tractorman810
as normal hes quick on the reply, only one hes ever been aware of is this one, he recons it may be the same idea just a different way of working as it uses a trailer style system, where as he recons that one you posted is a mounted version so probaby a bit earlier in design, you can see the trailer if you zoom in one the pic on the label on the door, hes going to have a hunt round and see if he can find any more out for me on the first version though
Andy
Thanks mate. Would they have had several machines running then rather than modifying the one? Will see if there's any more tractors.
Tractorman810
we had all sorts in the past, some areas used to just go out and buy what they wanted ,as each area was its own domain as such, when i first started there was still a yellow county in the yard for mole ploughing cables on the moors , taunton way used to have one , a roadless i think, with a which for heavy aerial cable erection , before we went fully underground onlyfor main truck cables . that one in the pic could well have been a area specific , but if its been arround with luck he wil find out a bit more. But I had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with it 2 years ago at the Silage Extravaganza in Tipperary , She came over from the UK for the event . But never came of the trailer for a workout that day.

Tractorman810
Very possible , there was a book done years back , as they tried selling it to us on the cheap, "post office and telecoms vans " or something like that , meant to have been a pictorial history of what's been used , but like I said it used to be almost separate company's writhing one years back, each area bought what suited it when it came to specialist stuff like these
