Lego Tractors

Thought I'd share some of these with you all, I was brought up on Lego Technic since the age of 5 and built up a huge collection over the years. Most of it has gone on ebay now but I still have all the 1970s sets boxed and stowed away, mainly because Lego is highly addictive to me :D:D:D I delved back into the hobby about 13 years ago and became an AFOL (adult fan of lego) and thanks to ebay I relapsed and had again amassed a ridiculously huge collection. Here are some of the many creations I built before going into Lego rehab.

Those are brilliant, love the county and the 3c most. Did you buy all the parts separately?

Thanks Martin, I began mixing the sets together and ended up searching for extra parts on ebay and just got carried away :D The 3c has a motorised compressor built in that provides the pneumatic cylinders with air to work the loader, backhoe, slew and jack legs, I'll post up more detailed pics soon

Stunning! Do you still have these in the collection Ian?

Thanks Andy, no they are long gone, still have the yellow tractor loader which is the perfect companion for the 851 MF set, and a smaller version of the blue mechanical excavator

Very good Ian . I remember having a Technical Lego tracked loading shovel in the late 80's sometime !! can't beat the Lego !!

Yeah I have that one too, the first pic is a fusion of that loader and the MF farm tractor which can be dismantled and built into a snow blower alternative model. Still find myself wandering into toys r us and checking out the latest technic :D

Great tractors, I was immediately drawn to the Highlander forest tractor ... any more pictures of that as well? You must have an extra insurance on your house with those '70's sets, they are probably worth a small fortune at the moment!

Thanks Hajo! There was only about 8 technical sets made from 1977 - 1980 they are quite basic compared to todays complex models, but they all use fantastic basic principals of engineering and are a huge part of my childhood. They are rising in price and some are nearly impossible to find with good boxes and instruction booklets.

Here it is, 6 pneumatic cylinders crammed in to work the arm, grab, slew and front blade. 'Hand of god' steering through the roof beacon :D

Here's another blast from the past, Lego 8859 Tractor from 1981. This replaced the MF tractor and features working P.T.O, rear linkage, steering, opening bonnet with working 2 cylinder engine underneath and plough with sprung 'boards'. Originally had this when I was 9, brand new at £29.00! Found this on ebay in fantastic condition with original box and instruction book. Getting extremely rare to find now.
