Britains JD 3050 + 3650 conversions

Recommended Posts

Thought I would give this Deere a few tweaks :)

i started off by painting the wheels a nice JD yellow (gloss) which made it look immediately better, its incredible the difference a bit of paint can make

next to the standard ones leftIMG_4867.thumb.JPG.79603d5f115137493a773e04c60294e7.JPGcut the old beacon off, put a new one one and an aerial and a bit of mud on the wheels

im not sure weather to leave the mud on the tires or take it off

nice little conversion there - the painted wheels definitely make a big difference, was it official JD yellow?

No just some humbrol gloss yellow, I think it's slightly more orange than the yellow plastic :)

I think there was a particular Revell yellow which was a good match for JD as well - my 8360RT desperately needs its wheels painting (then the 6210, then the 6920, then the 6195m, then the...you get the point) :D

It becomes an obsession Ted, once you start building proper rear linkages you become obsessed, looking at other tractors in your collection and no longer finding their original linkages acceptable, trying to fit more and more detail into the new hitch, tiny pins, chains, stabiliser bars, spools, it just goes on and on.........or so I've been told anyway!;):D

Hahaha, yes I can see what you mean, i was just looking at the hitch and thought I might as well have a try at making a better looking one, the last one I tried was on the 6920 and that went alright so. I have thought about buying them but where's the fun in that :D

Painted the wheels matt yellow and started on the weathering, a bit more suttle this time. I also found some thicker tires, off an old Britains valmet, and they seem to be a perfect fit :) compared to the old one :IMG_5364.thumb.JPG.af3eb39c103244122c080ae3919e999f.JPGIMG_5363.thumb.JPG.f22f056fff63149e547355dbfda66b30.JPG

Nice job Ted.

Needs a number plate!!

Hunts had the market sown up on the island in the 90’s with 50 series!

Thanks Alastair, I think I need an exhaust as well, I'm thinking chrome

yes r. Hunt, there was quite a few 50 series around back then! :)
