They were still making modernised 5000s in Mexico up until very recently - and they may still be making them! This was the tractor that epitomised the revolution in farming in the late 60s and early 70s. Look at all the other tractors that were based on the 5000 - such as the County 654, County 754, County 764, County 852, County 952, County 954, County 974, County County 1004, County 1124, County 1164, County 1174, County 6600-Four, County 7600-Four, County 7700-Four. Roadless 65, 75, 94T. Ford 6X 5000, 6Y 5000, 6Y 7000, 7A 5600, 6600, 7600, 7600E, 6700, 7700. .... and that's before we even begin to look at the 10 series. What about the skid units: EVA, Mailam, County, Muir-Hill, Shawnee-Poole, to mention but a few. Think about it. Can you remember a commercial farm that did not have at least one of the above at some time in the 60s, 70s or 80s? The only thing that can make the hair stand up on the back of my neck like a 5000 engine on full song is a TS-A engine on full song. Basildon built is better built! That went on to become the famous 230 and 240... Many thousands of unit sold worlwide... that famous AD3 152 Perkins... now that's an engine noise not to be forgotton... STILL made today in the guise of the Tafe.. and still a usable workhorse of many a farm today... King of the vintage scene and much soughtafter by collectors... trusty steed to municipal authorities up and down the country... Guest MF 550 Posted January 27, 2007 Share Posted January 27, 2007 Markys right aboot the good old 135 purrs like a cat and still many working hard My top vote would have to be the 390 or 390T ther were hundereds sold around this area and there resale value is almost the same as there original new price I also rated the 10 series fords especially the 4610 and 5610 As for the good old 3000 or 4000 well lets just say very prone to porous problems not a thumbs up there Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
