Tellarian
Saw the new Tucano & Lexion 600 today - Claas were demoing the 10.5m vario header - machine was on wheels - they do not recommend this header with wheels due to weight but it was the only spare 600 available for demos - all others sold or working. Even id dry conditions could see the wheelings so must be some weight - especially with heavy strawed european crops. Certainly hoovered through a fairly thick crom. Also had the Claas header trailer with a Unimog U400 from Germany - trailer with air suspension ABS, the Unimog I could have taken home (it was locked!!) Tucano was there, drive line tidied from the mega, real easy servicing.. The header trailer - all adjustable etc. Unimog to go.. All Claas chasing with trailers, they also dragged a vintage Europa along.. Lexy 600 - note German special Reg, 10.5M Vario with twin reels. Tucano 430 with 6m header Tucano drive lines and chopper. ihatepoundland
Wow The Unimog and trailer combination is probably the smartest looking setup i've seen. Wheels on a Lexion 600 though...should whoever specced that have spent a little bit more \
NewHolland2
Really nice pictures there........Quite a set-up there I must say........Like the number plate on the Lexion too........
JC
Great pictures! Why the twin reel, is it purely down the overall length or is it some marketing ploy??
FB
Great pictures! Why the twin reel, is it purely down the overall length or is it some marketing ploy?? it folds up, i think so you can move from field to field easily?? i'll find the pic \
Deerepower
it folds up, i think so you can move from field to field easily?? i'll find the pic \ dont think it folds up \ more like to reduce the stress on the reel as it might be to much on a header that size
FB
thinking about it thats prob right as its a big header! :D, they do have one though that folds up, i'm sure \ \
Deere-est
You mean to tell me you were 1/2 mile from me and you didn't bring me a plain chocolate Bounty?!! Nice machinery - the Unimog looks the muts. I saw the Lexion go past the field I was in on a lowloader, behind another lowloader with the Tucano on it. They were putting up the flags when I popped to the garage for me dinner.
Kris
Positive it folds up both fold forward. Think its a 35 foot one too.

Tellarian
Reel split purelf for stress, and for the auger to feed evenly - if too long could flex causing bunching. Centre bearing on the auger see below. Tris in the Little Chef & garage !! did his Mum know...- its just on the horizon - the 600 would go there and back for a tankful of grain... One thing fails me - over here a Mog has to have that Godawful cage whereas in Germany they dont - it is over interpretation of e u law again. You have to be really daft to get into trouble in a Mog - you will probably bottle out before tha machine does. Here is the centre support. It does not fold - the folding one is, I thinks, a 6m one. Deere-est
The 36ft MacDons are split like this as well, looks like they are folding ones but like you have said it just for stress and even feed. Even the 30ft MacDons used to flex something awful, more so than the new breed of 30ftrs over here. When you hopped up onto the A303 to turn left, I was in the field behind the headge immediatley infront of you tedding straw!!
ihatepoundland
If it folded, I think they might have brought a shorter trailer! Didn't know that about unimogs, don't think I've seen a new one for a while though.
Tractorman810
saw a new mog down her a few days back, claas green to, towing a big baileys trailer, didjt notice a cage on it, that combines some size aint it, you know its going to be big when the header trailers like a artic one

Deerepower
Positive it folds up both fold forward. Think its a 35 foot one too. dont think you would be able to go on the road with it folded forwards you would be adding 5mtr+ to the front of the combine

Deere-est
Just read an artical in Farmers Weekly July 6th regarding header trailers - according to the law they ain't quite sfisticamated enough Colm. As regards to brakes and wieght mainly.

Gav836
Doesn't surprise me Tris as most of the older ones are very prone to breaking and giving lots of hardship By law at present you are not supposed to tow the header trailer behind a tractor or other vehicle UNLESS the trailer has a braking system fitted on it, they are only designed to be pulled by the combine. There was a case last year of a farmer getting done for pulling it behind his Diahatsu Fourtrak whilst escorting the combine for that very reason. Claas are behind New Holland in these stakes as the header trailers for the CX and CR range have hydraulic brakes fitted to them
Deere-est
If the trailer weighs less than 510kg it doesnt need brakes, over that or over 750kg inc load it must be equipped with brakes - there for not permitted to be towed by a combine. Most 4x4's have a braked towing capacity of 3500kgs - many headers exceed this themselves let alone with the trailer as well.
