Lord Ferguson Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I have to say... I WAS in two minds on this one... Penny is such an "honest" little lady... I thought it would be a shame to restore her really... HOWEVER... having seen her... I'm firmly in the camp of "YES... DO IT KEV" ... She's so lovely... I can just see her in a new coat of paint - something to hand down from father to son in years to come What do you lot think... have a look at her pics in here... http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=18054.msg349014#new Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 its a hard choce but i would say yes to marky, looks pretty simple work wise ,not as if much is missing from her bar a seat cushion Quote
Lady Ferguson Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 100% yes!!!! ... every lady likes to look her best * Quote
nashmach Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Sorry guys no way looks much better the way she is with a coat of good oil as preservative Quote
MJB1 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 i'm with colm on this one , would be sacralidge to restore her , hard enough to find tractors like this in original condition as it is , if you want some thing pretty to look at go restore her , if you want some original farming heritige to own , leave her be . when i find one for myself it will be some thing pretty to look at as i sure as hell won't be able to find anything like penny's condition Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Sorry boys... good to get some opinions in this one though... I've said my bit above - lets have some more opinions then Quote
Graeme Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I like it the way it is Just give it a wash down and let it work for a living. If you do it up, you will spoil the fun of using it. Quote
Deerepower Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 mmm.....this is a hard one, but I'll put me view down I would keep her as she is at the moment and maybe in a few years time when mgu is a bit older do it up then as a father and son project \ Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Thats a nice thought mate.... Quote
David Brown 1410 power! Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Definatly not Kev there is to many restored 35's and 135s now that people dont even bother looking at them at show's people take a lot more notice of an orignal tractor if i were you all i would do is get new seat cushens and tyres and just give it a good wash and fix leaxs ect... but prserve the tin work with a light coat of waste oil this way it will be preserved! Quote
Kris Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Im with BluePower on this one Wait a few years till MGU is older to restore it together and in the meantime continue to look after her and maybe create a fund to save money up for when you do come to restore her in years to come Quote
jdc Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I'm inclined to say leave her alone but I also like shiny paintwork.... Quote
allis8550 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I'd have to say yes, oiling it over is all very well as a temporary measure, but only a good coat of paint will preserve it properly. Quote
