I think that practice is used over here as well. I am sure TOG could fill us in though. I have seen things like that on 1/64 scale displays on the TTS forum.

I think some of the items used could be of a different scale (artistic licence so to speak). I picked up a couple of items meant for crafts (little resin baskets with apples in)not 1/32 but look okay in situ.
