can't afford to cut another up sean , i got none spare anyway , if this had gone wrong , i'd of had to ask my mate to send on another 362 axle with the 2wd i hope he's going to send when i was a lad , finding seeing a 4wd tractor was a rareity , see nothing but now, i learned how to pough with a 2wd tractor & was taught how to use the 'ferguson pressure control' properly , no need for a 4wd back then , i used to plough with a 575 or a 590 2wd with a ransomes tsr 300 3 furrow, reverseable , ,no hydraulic turn over then , just a lever to pull out the back window , & when the trip mechenism stoped working you'd have to pull the lever ,the get out of the cab & swing on the rear furrows to get it to turn over \ bloody thing & at night because of the trip lever , i ploughed with the back window open , & with the two spot lamps bazing away the cab used to fill up with moths & miges :( oh yeah & there wasn't any radio 1 FM ,it was all 275-285 medium wave , crackle & hiss that used to go off at midnight :D
-
here's a size comparison for a 590 & a 550 , ignore the 14 year old oik in the middle . the 4wd didn't make it any taller than the 590 2wd we had at the time
-
i dont see why not sean , here's all the nasty stiff underneath it all in the end i used nails ,as i didn't want to cut an axle bar, so thes will stay on here permanent but i can of course swap the axle on another 300 series if i want . i also turned the axle to face the other way & gained 3 - 4 mm to get a shorter wheelbase
-
hey ,unlike some , the wheels still go round & it steers , which is more than can be said for the norscot class forager which costs HOW MUCH!! :D
-
strange though it may seem rob the 500 series cabs were modular , so they were all the same size , the only difference was the floor of the cab, the 550 had a geartunnell & as the range went up to the 590 you more or less had a flat floor , not completely but as good as damit
-
trouble was the straight axle bar gets cought up with the main holding pin so it had to be cut in the middle & glued to keep the axle bar from coming off
-
couln't find a 2wd axle for this one so cut the wheel stubs off , drilled holes right through then put some wheels on been wanting to have one of these for a while now
-
i imaging they'd be pretty good size wise , not exact but the rear wheel size is there just need a 2wd front axle , going to be a fair bit of wangling to get the floorpan & cab right though , but i don't see why it wouldn't work
-
hold everything there sean, me & marky were discussing this earlier, i recon you might well be better off & try & use a 135 chassis or a 362 chassis & graft a 500 series bonnet , cab & floorpan to it .It's going to take some doing, but judging by the work you put into things , it'll be nothing short of spectacular if you can get it right your call

can't or won't :D pair of crackers you got anyway mate but i think it's a poor show after you slated that 590 from robs working tractors 06 pics in how they did it up :D
-
thats a fair shout marky but in reality the britains dimentions are more in keeping with the 590 as to the much larger 595 in real life
-
sorry sean but thats MF chassis brown , the 185 & the 500 series should be ferguson grey at least http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/ihatepoundland/2006%20Tractor%20Challenge/MF/175.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/ihatepoundland/2006%20Tractor%20Challenge/MF/590/mini-DSCF5363.jpg the brown colour that you've used wasn't around till the 2005 series & the 600 series tractors
-
but the chassis still needs to be painted grey sean, on both of them
