  1. can never really undrstand the duals on a pit ? the whole idea is to get weight down on the heap thus minimising the risk of wasteage , a friend of mine used to use sprayer wheels on the furthest wheel settings when buckraking & had very little in the way of waste when it was uncovered , got to have tightly compacted clamp to get the best results , duals just spread the weight of the machine \
  2. is this not a good time to tell you that all your tractors are light purple then well i didn't like to say anything before \ :D
  3. that was a quote nearly worthy of a numpty there ricky \ most of the euro clevis hitches have auto pins & the drawbars are suspended by heavy duty springs & you still have to get out of the cab anyway for the trailer braking & hydraulic pipes
  4. not so marky, i got 50 fantastic spud boxes & some pallets that are equally as good all form yer goodly self oh yeah & some gates somewhere at your house :D
  5. most euro land tractors have this arangement & have done for years , i spose , it all comes from the days of horse & cart , all needed to be done was tochange the wat you coupled from horse to tractoe , thus utilising the same machine , but i spect it's more like you can pull much more than a normal trailer we are all told not to pull from the top link position , but in our case thats because there is a weight over & above the center the pulling axis, weight pulls down ,the tyre tread digs in & up she'll rear. with the euro set up theres no weight bearing down on the rear of the tractor, so if the trailer hits an obsruction the tractor will efectively just sit there & spin or dig itself into a hole .
  6. here you go look at pic 7 http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=9437.0
  7. there you go sean look at pic 7 you'll see the drawbar set up :) as before gggb stunning photo's :)
  8. i recon a good team of shire horses could pull them with the right harness' but poor bessie would have a bit of a job on her hands trying to pick up a conventional 10ton double axle trailer , unless of course you stuck the drawbay up the poor animals ar..... whoa there up look at that a spelling mistake \
  9. ah yeah 124,& 128 ,yes i remember now , they were the worst balers massey ever put their names to, never got on with them ,the knotters were a nightmare ,there were bales coming out of that thing all irregular shapes , if they managed to get tied the next generation of balers were so much better , i had the MF 4 contractors conventional baler & that had the New-Holland knotters , never missed a bale
  10. i recon this is great , all the newer member are reviving older posts ;D
  11. oh deere, thats not a 200series MF baler is it sean? \ & the bale sledge should have a jockey wheel imediately behind the bale tailgate
  12. wheddon cross ? i know it well i used to deliver feed up round Luckwell bridge & timbescombe & luxbourough :)
  13. not just the low revs gggb, do thery need the help , but soon as all the weight of the silage reaches the rear trailer wheels , there's no weight on the tractor , so in effect the tractor wheels ould start ripping up the nicely rolled clamp so i dare say it's to keep a consistant forward motion . field pitt polution ?, unlike the uk they've got a dryer climate that us so efluent isn't as big a headache for them than it is for us
  14. i think the trailer issue has more to do with how they are hitched up , at one time a pick up hitch was an optional extra ,i think they still are in euroland ?,only in the last 20yrs or so the uk were they classed as a standard fitment , whereas the euro tractors came with a clevis hitch that was fitted above the pto shaft near the center of the axle but not quite as high as the top link . If you look at pics 1 ,6 ,7 ,10 ,11 & 13 follow the drawbar from the trailers to the tractor & you'll see that they don't go down to the level of where a pick up hitch would be . If for example each one of those trailers were to hold 10tons, you couldn't expect that little deutz 3.90, to try & hitch up a 20ton load with out putting a great deal of stress on the rear end & the tyres , but it can pull it with no extra stress required than to just keep it moving no doubt Gromtrigger could of course explain it better can you get a good pic of the back end of any of these tractors gggb?
  15. Nah , you know the problems i've had with the 300 series lately \ i know what you mean nigel but it's a bit late to point that out to britains now they can hardly get the tractors of today right let alone telling them of a mistake made 25 years ago :D \
  16. i spose it very much depends on what sort of farm you're trying to create , if yer just a dairy farm there's not much going on when everyone else is combining / drilling etc, so each entry would be seasonal to what reflects whats going on at that particular farm
  17. there are restorationists out there , but finding the parts are a nightmare for these machines now. did anyone see the tv show SALVAGE SQUAD with suggs presenting it ?, one episode was all about getting an old 780 back up to working condition ,& that was no mean feat, come the end they put it to work up against a new massey combine & invited it's first owners & it's last driver to have a go on it , looked vey small against the new one as you'd expect, but it cut 3 - 4 acres with no problem . restoring these old machines are great , but you can't beat seeing them working . there is another couple of friends somewhere in norfolk who restore combines & have restored one of the very first trailed claas combines to working order amongst others & they are all kept in a air conditioned ww2 aircraft hangar it was shown a few years back on ch4 called classic .... trucks ,tractors, combines, cars plaines , boats , & were narated by john peel , they were very good programmes
  18. stunning pics gggb, very ,very clear, what camera do you use ?
