still find it strange that the early 595mk1 only had 595 & MF on the decal -
nice truck nick , but like tris said , mind those powerlines & low bridges i think the gigant may just be a bit tall when folded up,

i'm as good as 40 & i can remember when these handlers were getting popular & nowhere near the size, power & specifcations you younger chaps grow up with now. The first handler i saw back in 78 /79 was a sambron JS24 2wd single boom, no hitch & 3 attatchments , pallet forks , bucket & dung grab i thought it was amazing , but the majority was still done by a 2wd DB 995 & loader. I recall Townsend farm years ago , fleet was 550, 135 & loader, 265, 590 & loader 590 always did the sugarbeet loading, & flat 8 work & field dung the 135 always did the cattle yards & chicken sheds but then a rough manatou turned up & after a few weeks we couldnt believe how we'd done the previous jobs without it but all it really did was show how inadequate & clumsy tractors & loaders were back then. Compared to what was is now available on the market we only had rear steer, a 3rd service (which was probably an option) a 2 speed Hi-Lo hydrostatic transmission & an am radio ! forget about a rear hitch , these things could hardly move themselves around let alone pull anything ! road work ..........forget it....... a half hour trip by tractor to get to some fields used to take nearly an hour with the handler ! i think JCB got it right with the loadalls, it had hydrostatic drive , but also had proper gear ranges , & believe me , you had to have either nerves of steel or brains of custard to want to try top speed in a 520............. wow the adrenilin rush was something else really the feeling of 'wow, i'm about to die' is quite unforgetable \ hydrostatic transmission was also poor when it came to silage pits , the machines couldn't keep the oil cool enough to keep the machine operable, there was also the poor design for the machines work place , most handlers were derived from construction site specs, a sanderson 622 used on a farm near me always stopped on a silage pit because it was ex site spec & wasn't built to be used on slopes , so the fuel pick up was always sucking air , took a while for the dealers at the time to sus the problem ! Back then tractors & handlers were built for specific jobs, now both tractors & handlers are built with the capability do do all jobs required of that machines build perameters. tractors & handlers have come on tremedously in the last 25/30 years & no doubt will still be ever changing for the better , but at the moment if you spec the machine to what you need, todays tractors & loaders are nearly every bit as good as todays handlers
-
i don't think there is an argument here , every farm has a reason for 'either or' & sometimes both it's very much a personal preference suited to the jobs it'll need doing i know a farmer who has nearly 1000 head of beef & has to travel a fair distance to feed & bed upon different sites , a materials handler just hasnt got the speed & pulling power he needs to get from one to another during the day unlike years ago , the introduction of clutchless shuttles on modern tractors have greatly increased the versatility of even the biggest tractors & most if not all tractors are designed & built to take the stressess of loader work . it does happen , but it's rare to see a snapped tractor due to loader work nowadays

the 500 series tractors were originally offered with an 8 speed gearbox or multi power as an option. on later models the 8 speed was phazed out in favor of the 3stick 12speed gearbox with multi power still offered as an option -

untidy dirty, messy , ..........................brilliant , loving the DB's great tractors , especially like the big 94. i used to keep goats jack , & you may want to build a higher wall about 10 ft higher although that doesn't mean they'll not find away of getting to get on top of it \

ooof.................... quite a build there sean , lots of patience indeed but then it no more than we expect from you just lately. any chance of a 10tonne single high side mate ? i used to haul one on the back of a deere 7710 lovely trailer to pull -
nice pics ricky , sorry i havent commented before my opinion , we should all go back to the days of 75 hp average farms , import as little as possible , & feed ourselves , with decent prices for food & a better standard of living at a lower cost , the farms & countrysides wouldn't be as stressed & ravaged like it is today

i used to be a tractor driver on a grass drying plant & had various mowers to use the area was an air field , so had big open area's or small fidly patches at our disposal we had a Fahr KM22, Claas WM30 Kuhn FC 250 GT Tarrup 306 Tarrup 307 / autoswather the km 22 was a great little mower & the design runs from the 60's to present day the claas wm 30 was a 3 drum setup easy to use , but suited to hay rather than silage & the wheels at the back used to disintergrate with heavy use FC250 , probably one of the best mowers i've used , easy to pull but easy to roll if you try turning too quick or tight 306 nice mower , simple to use 307 /autoswath heavy mower compared to the 306 i thought & if you got it right the auto swather could make short work of the short work if you know what i mean \ another good mower was the kidd clipper , as long as you could keep it going
-
some nice pics there mark especially like the cartoon man on the forklift \ i reckon it's high time BBC did a documentary on you , about the mad get rich quick, slow quick, quick slow entrepreneur brainstorms you seen to bring to life i thought a midlife crisis meant you had to get fashionable clothes , a fast italian car & a young impressionable girl that cant talk proper like wot we do unfortunately you chose new overalls , french tractor & barry , ah well it's a close call ;D
