  1. wow there looking great johnny cant wait to have her hooked up to the mowers
  2. ya boy, well i made a start on it the other day and finished the rest today, bad blisters on the hands now for my trouble haha
  3. tightening all the pads on the machine since i dont think they guys who put the wide pads on bothered to pull them with a bar, 44 pads on each track 4 bolts each makes a total of 352 bolts........ talk about a boring job
  4. in our operation the harvester driver never moves the chuts over and back the only piece he moves is the flap at the end to blow into the near or the far side of the trailer. how we load very much depends on the conditions on the day, such as slopes in the fields wet ground etc. i normally load the trailer starting from the front as gav said up as far as around the mesh for better traction and so i can still see as im filling to the same level as i go back the trailer, once its pretty much all level the whole way back the trailer i move to the front again and fill to the top, drawback is you cant see whats happening once youve filled the top but after a while you get used to it and no when its full also you can see in the mirrors when the grass starts splashing so you know then to move back a bit more, by the time youve all this done as far as the back whats in the front as compacted a bit with the motion of travelling so the harvester can blow another bit across the top to give a full load. like tris said after a while you get to know exactly what each other thinks, when starting out first there is a code that involves indicators and beeping the horn etc but theres soon no need for that anymore
  5. wow yere lucky. man how can a farmer/cpntractor justify spending ?30k on a set of tracks for a combine though, youd want to be doing some acres to make that up, even for a tractor as in the case above its crazy money and as id imagine they are much more susceptible to ware and damage, i know they have there merits obviously but i dont think i could ever run them if i was contractor id get no sleep with worry and stress ;D, incidently when getting my digger a while back we worked out a deal where we were getting bran new wide pads for slightly over €1000.
  6. my boss got a new (clean second hand ) tm today not sure what size it was cos it went back on a truck only know it was going to my boss cos i saw his 8360 up on the truck on the way back after the other was unloaded. also saw a couple cs 150's and abbey muck spreaders and a 6480 with a bale trailer which is not a local guy to the west kerry area.
  7. tough luck s??t happens though especially with tractors no matter how experienced you are stuff goes wrong now and then, could well have been weakend for a while , i dont have much experience of tracks so am not really sure how well they cope with ware and tear and how expensive it is to up keep them, id imagine though ground conditions would have to be pretty good for them??? does the benefits of tracks really justify their cost compared to tyres?
