  1. Hi Folks, Well I went on some more travels today to see if anything was about. For the first 10 miles there was little to see; I spotted some trailers on the headland of a field and got momentarily excited but it turned out to be a Claas Jaguar that had been whole cropping, and it had finished anyway, and not that well visible off the road. Further on, near the PGL camp by Ruyton XI Towns I could hear something which I thought was in the field beside the road; it was not in the field, for as I came to by the main gate of the camp I was met by a JD towing a Claas header. And then behind it was a Lexion 580 Terra Trac. On a narrow lane like that, you really appreciate how big these things are; I got more than a few nettle stings as I dragged my bike up the verge, a few hedge thorns in the posterior as well, but the thing crawled past somehow! I didn't get a photo, but it was on an 06 plate. So further on and towards Rednal there were more signs of there having been harvest activity, but no combines. In fact, backtracking a little, there were a lot of fields still to be done here and there. Then I got to Rednal itself and things started to get interesting.....Firstly the sight of this monster detaching its header: Then, up at the farm it belongs to, this classic machine, though its not a very good photo at all I'm sorry: But then, a few miles down the road at Hordley, I was thrilled by this sight, two International 531's at work in the same field. You may recall last year a blurred view of one of these, hopefully these will make up for that poor image: And here are some photos of the first machine by itself: Both of them heading up the field: Second one coming back down: Off down again: First one emptying out: Ford Racing back down the field, second one (white cab) ploughing on: First one (red cab) starting another row: It was great to see these two old combines, which seemed very well looked after, at work, the drivers of both and of the Ford all seemed really friendly (all smiles and waves) and its a rare thing to see tweo combines at work in the same field. Posted these using photobucket for the first time, hope they come out OK and you enjoy looking
  2. I know what you mean - I was tempted to do it when i had it but thought better of it...it would look right at home in there though, it reminds me of a barn that belongs to the contractor I was waffling on about in another thread - used to keep 3 80 series combines in there by his house!
  3. Just looks fabulous Tris, you do need an old rusty tractor hiding behind there though, the amount of stuff you see hidden behind barns...Excellent stuff, are you going to post some photos of it with machinery inside? Maybe that 8070
  4. Hi Mart, The NH was registered P186HUX - local plate. The mystery deepens....
  5. I think the place the 1055 is at is called Broomfields - its just off the A5 after you come off the Nesscliffe bypass, before the turning for Ensdon. The Dominator 78 belongs to the Goose Farm just outside Nesscliffe - I'm sure they used to have a Volvo S950 before it...
  6. I wondered that myself - at first glance I wondered if it had once had duals. I don't know why its got the German writing on the side, unless its been imported or something? On the rear it says 'Achtung! Fahrzeug schert aus' and has the continental circled 20 speed limit. Most intriguing....
  7. And last for now, a couple of older machines - a Claas Dominator 78, seen near Nesscliffe - if I could have timed it better I could have got the 9880i in the background. Secondly, a John Deere 1055 which was stopped and although there were still trailers in the field, they must have nipped off for tea. Hope you like the photos.
  8. Next is a massive John Deere 9880i, seen near the village of Great Ness:
  9. Hi All, Here are a few photos from this years harvest - all were taken last Sunday mostly around Nesscliffe and surrounding villages (near to the main A5). First up, is a contractors New Holland TX67 seen at Walford, near the farming college. This belongs to the same contractor who let me have a ride on a TX34 when I was a kid!
  10. Well thats very kind, thank you! - I will do my best to post some more photos as soon as I can. I have a small selection that need editing in size from sunday - a NH TX67, JD 9880i, and two older machines which were a Claas Dominator 78 and a JD 1055 - the only thing with them is that they were all taken on full zoom owing to their position in the fields, but they have come out pretty well. I do have some other old photos too somewhere, with some gems like an Axial Flow 1460, old Claas types, and there's an MF750 amongst them too - I'll have a hunt folr them and see what I can do. Cheers again, Joe
  11. Aw do you really mean that or are you referring to my talent for getting gates and things in the way of the shot?
  12. Hi All, Spotted this beastie sitting in a field earlier, as the rain fell Joe
  13. I saw that P reg TX67 again today - it certainly gets about! Also saw a Lexion very far in the distance, so I don't know what model it was but it had a huge header, then there was a equally large JD9880i STS, and not far from that a tidy little Claas Dominator 78. Also saw a JD 1055 stood still in a field - guessing the driver had gone for tea or something, there were still trailers about. Got pics of everything but the distant Lexion, but I keep having to resize them because of the #$%^&* 115KB limit, so can't be bothered to post them now
  14. I've just seen it and I may be persuaded to reverse my disposal decision!
  15. Add to the previous list a NH TX67 (P reg) still working hard at about 9pm tonight
  16. A good day for Combines yesterday, as I was on the bus between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere; Saw the following: John Deere CTS just outside Shrewsbury Claas Lexion 460 and JD 20xx or 22xx being prepped near Myddle NH CX something or other in the distance (Myddle again) Claas Lexion 480 on Terra tracs (Burlton) NH TX (old one) (Wackley) International 1460 axial flow (Cockshutt) Claas Mega 208 (Cockshutt) NH TX (quite recent one) Nearer Ellesmere. On the way back I saw the newish TX about to start another field, the Mega 208 in another field, the IH 1460 still in the same one, and the Terra Trac Lexion with the covers up somewhere else. There was also a Dominator 86 going by Albrighton near SHrewsbury. Joe
  17. 32 candles today - though there were actually five on the cake. Have had a great day, thanks for all the kind wishes, much appreciated
  18. The Axion is temptingly nice isn't it...but no I must resist, RESIST!!!!
  19. Got the baler today, and its a super model - Ros have really ramped things up in the detail stakes! Although not a type I was really aware of previously, it appealed when I first saw the photos, and I'm very happy with it...but I wonder if they will sell packs of those oddly coloured bales as extras?
  20. Woweeeee!!! Thats a beaut!! Maybe my old green Britains pneumatic drill will be retired soon.... When they gonna do a plough?
  21. Excellent stuff, and even though he's drowning, he can still smile about it - what a guy!! ;D ;D
  22. I've seen that G&M have the Feraboli baler and I'm very tempted to get one of these... Joe
  23. Thanks both for the replies; I need to have a good look at the cab as it is (now I've had the model!) and work out how best to do it, if it is possible at all - doesn't look like it will be an easy task for a duffer like me!
  24. Sorry for late reply - that might be worth trying - I recall trying to glaze the cab of the old Siku Lexion with acetate, and the results were appalling!! Suppose I need to measure the cab somehow, work out the right curvature for the glazing... Cheers Joe
