  1. Can you imagine taking the turn at the bottom of the hill in Wellingtonbridge with a trailer that had a centre of gravity that high? Doesn't bear thinking about. Compare the wasted/unused height of the Rolland with the compactness of this Mixie Toomey. IIRC this baby had 16 tonnes on board, and could have taken another tonne and a half only he had to get into the yard before they closed.
  2. Just to let yiz know, the date is now fixed for September 2nd - All Ireland Final Day. Shur the Cork people will need something to do that day ......... while Waterford play Kilkenny off the field in Croke Park!
  3. How many people are definitely going to travel to Zwolle?
  4. Like, where have you been for the last 4 weeks? :D :D Top job with the pics. Pity there wasn't more blue in them
  5. Not bad young Tristopher. Any chance of a pic of the set of buildings together?
  6. Just saw a Shelbourne-Reynolds Swather on a lowloader passing up the street. Must be time for the winter rape harvest
  7. Excellent! That's another ?20 you owe me FNHIR! (Of course Nashmach could always fill the back of the Hiace with Strawberries and make it a business trip! :D :D )
  8. Look at the little happy head on Tris because he is taller than Ben! What is Frank Butcher doing at the back on the left?
  9. Diecast Heaven are going to host another model show in September. It will be held at the [url=http://www.carlton.ie/kinsale.html]Carlton Hotel in Kinsale Co. Cork. The hall in this hotel is twice the size of the one in Bunclody, so we want lots more people displaying. The date hasn't been set, but the second two weekends are out for me is now set for September 2nd. Who might be interested in travelling and/or displaying? Brits welcome! (Only 20km from Cork Airport, and the Mrs will love the hotel!) Leo is negotiating a discounted rate for anyone wishing to stay over, but the rooms will need to be booked PDQ once the date has been set. So nashmach, over to you. which weekend won't suit you at all? :'( :'( :'(

    Lets try that again ......

  12. I gave up trying to resize pics. Now I just upload them to an account on photobucket. They get resized automatically when you upload them, and the quality is much much better than I could get with the filesize limitations on FTF (or my technique for resizing in PaintShopPro) Very simple to set up, very simple to upload, and very simple to link to. Here's a pic of Paul Moynan's beet harvester which I took at Lusk last year. It is hosted on photobucket. Give you an idea of how good their quality is.
  13. Sunny here all day. Been trying to get two lads to come do some work all week. They arrived 8am today and put in foundations for a wall, did all the gardening and tidied up some of the mess from the big storm last night. Forecast is for more bad weather from tomorrow.
  14. I love the PAVT detailing on the rear wheels. Not seen that before. Very nice.
  15. I just started out with 6mm MDF in 4ft x 2ft sheets. This allows for a mix n match approach to layouts.Due to some warping on the first one I now glue a 2" x 1" lath around the underside of each board to maintain rigidity (strength without the weight of thicker MDF.) The grass comes in rolls and is by a manufacturer called Heki. I think Woodland Scenics do something similiar. I reckon to start with flat fields and then experiment with hills and the like. Plaster of paris or papiermache can both give you the hilly effect.
  16. A real one. 14x34s and all. James Power in Tramore has a 6635, but it is only on 11x36s or 12x36s. (was never interested enough to look closely) Will get a couple of pics of the 7635 next week it you'd like.
  17. I've yet to drive a 3 cylinder Ford that didn't live in 6th when working hard. Seems to be the gear that was designed for them to work hardest in. Memories of buckraking silage with a 4000 Of course 6th to reverse is a hell of a lot easier than 5th to 6th under load. Do you use the clutch for the second part of the exercise? I prefer to crash into the next gear - makes it work like a synchro.
  18. Very tidy! The only improvement I can suggest would be to use the 15x38s off your 6410. They are the right size, and use the correct centres. One of these days I'm going to buy a 1:1 Silver Jubilee. Beautiful machine!
  19. Nice mod, but the original ERTL wheels were already oversized (15x38s). I've never seen one in Ireland on anything bigger than 14x34s. Here's a septic on the oversized wheels like ERTL modelled theirs on.
  20. Memories of a 65 going up a very steep hill with a Munster Machinery 10 Tonner full of barley in tow. Would have been 1975 or 76. What is it with the Brits and half sized trailers? Even Thriplow Farms use 12 tonne trailers behind 7010 John Qs. Around here they put 12 tonnes behind a Ford 7600. I had a 20ft Dooley behind a NH 6640 a couple of years ago. Walked away with it.
  21. A lot of late 90s Valtras seem to have come with reverse drive (presumably for demonstration purposes). I know one guy with at least two reverse drive Valtras (8400 and 6800 - and I think his 8950 is reverse drive too).
  22. You finally got a pic of her! Whahayyyyy! ;D ;D I don't suppose you got some video?
