BC
At the same place there was still some water lying at the end rigs Now this chap was fairly going at a fair rate of knots and there was no way he was having time to stop for a "news" ;)
BC
On the way home I stopped at the Old Smiddy just up the hill heading for Skene near Clintery Agricultural College but the sun was in my eyes so not very good for photos >
BC
I moved further up the hill and stopped again but by this time he was nearly disappearing over the brow of the hill.
BC
Next stop was beside the Woggle crossroads. I think this could be the Mitchell's from Drumoak who have ground across in this area too.

pistol pete
alot of farms have made a couple of smaller field into one large field. we did it at firhills just saves having to move all the time. some of my mates fields are 50 acres up to a hundred. they have a 6 meter drill pulled by a 8530 and my other mate has a 8 meter drill also pulled by a 8530. big kit from the days of the fergie drill

James T
Bloody hell, that's a bit off that he couldn't manage to weave around the fenceposts and under the wire too! Imagine all those cm2 he's losing out on! Another pit stop a little down the road What's old Arthur up to here ....making sure he makes good use of all his land ;D
BC
A real Aberdonian in action James and that extra bits around the outside will allow Arthur to boast about his yield per acre of barley. Arthur is a fine fellow but if you are around and wearing a bonnet or cap best to tie it down or he could blow it away with his stories ;D
robbo
I assume that he is not in any government environmental stewardship scheme or claiming subsidies or else he would have to leave a margin of either 2 or 6 metres around the edge of the field depending on the scheme :of

BC
Yesterday on the way home I spotted an unman ed Nicol TM 140 with one pass on. Up front I saw the JCB Teleporter with Fraser cart heading towards their other farm at the Ord. Mow there is no way a Nicol tractor was stopped so early on in the afternoon and anyway they don't do sleepouts either ;D I decided to stop off and get some close ups but a rather sunny day so apologies if quality or clarity not too good since I could hardly see the viewer screen at times >

BC
One of the Fraser carts which is used for dung, silage and grain beginning to show age but Gerald was saying they plan to get it into the workshop and give it a makeover. BC
Off with a bag of barley and fertilizer and then Gerald had time to stop for a "news" He was saying that his tractor had to have a whole new front axle after the Corsa VRX pranged him. In addition he was saying that the dykeside plough was newly made up in the workshop and was a conventional plough. The main reason for doing what Arthur was doing was not to gaining extra acres but to save the filfth getting into the field....i.e. curtailing weed and seed growth at the edge of the fields. Some farmers may spray for this but not the Nicol's "o" Skene :( In addition Gerald was saying he is working from 5am to 9pm just now and sometimes calving after that since they have in the region of 150 calving cows to look after as well. Looks as though Gerald may need help to carry his pay packet to the bank this month :D Now the one pass in action
BC
Further on the road to Culter a MF 6485 and Amazone AD303 were at work close to the Leith's quarry road end. The farmer himself Mr Mitchell from Murtle Den Bieldside came in about with the teleporter and I had a chat since I have never actually spoken to him before. He thought I had lost something off my car but we got chatting for quite a while. They run Massey Fergies with the exception of there combine. They switched tom a NH last year on the basis that it was a cheaper and better machine and also better dealer back up. he was saying MF had fallen behind with their combines. Now the crop being sown was oats and not barley. He was saying that it is being grown for seed and they have a contract price so they know what they are getting. He predicts prices for barley will be low given the amount people are putting in this year ???
