Lord Ferguson
It's just not worth the investment and hassle for 400 acres these days... get a contractor in.. that means a Lexion 600 (or whatever the new one is)
jakescot
true true, unless you have dodgy weather?? then everyone wants the big 6 at the same time.......go south and east young man and buy something ie NH MF Claas whichever has a dealer close to you. provided of course it fits through your gates and along your roadways. in 1/32 land the choice is entirely yours , all available online readily ;D so a nearby dealer isnt a problem , it just depends how realistic you want to be so just you chose your fave colour and you`ll be fine
Jdeere6910
personally I would go for either the ROS NH or the JD because thats the most likely choice for a 400 acre buisness in my opinion. However go with what is your favourite as its your layout
SPN
The John Q would be most appropriate from that list, but the Norev Claas Dominator 108 would be a better choice in my view. Personally, I'd go back a bit farther and use a New Holland 8070. Curiously, here's a thread on GTP with pictures of all three models. http://forum.grostracteurspassion.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12442
WillTEF20
I am a John Deere man but I have always liked a NH combine so I think I might go for the TX66 if I can find one the right price.
roberthenning
Jd man myself, but a binders not a binder in my eyes unless she has new holland wrote on the side of her, love the colour contrast of the nh working in barley. 8060 would be my choice but are near on impossible to get a hold of one nowadays
Tractorman810
you want a nice mf 625 or a jd 965 ,or that jada toys 8070, no need for any bigger
mr softie
over the years on the farm i worked during the school holidays etc (430 acres) operated the following combines new holland 8080 , john deere 1085 ,john deere 1188 then the current combine for the last twelve years or so jd 2266, and the neighbouring farm with 300 acres operated a jd 975 for almost 22 years and in 2007 when it unfortunatly went up in smoke replaced it with a jd 1177 h4
archbarch
when it comes to world of models my advise hang on a while and see what gets released, in my opinion we are long overdue a Deutz combine from the likes of Siku?
Deere-est
What Stan said, the ROS New Holland is a rubbish model - even worse than the Ertl John Deere which I picked as most suited in your poll. Widen the choices a bit though and it does bring the JADI NH8000 series into the frame which as Stan said, would be a lovely one to have. JoshParkinson
i would also say the ros NH, the only thing is it would need a new set of front wheels, as the current ones are a bit short wheelbase and dont look right
WillTEF20
Isn't the Jadi 8080 a bit fragile and difficult to get hold of
WillTEF20
I have found a ros laverda combine that looks like a ossicle option
Jez
Isn't the Ros TX66 a bit out of scale? Also it is annoying that you need to remove the feeder house too with the header.. I would naturally go for the John Deere (also known by the unfunny slightly outdated joke where some replace the deere with a Q) Truely claasic machine but for a machine with nice details it would be the dominator model. Only problem with using a 600 Lexion as marky says is the access... maybe the fields are small and not accessible with such a big machine. JoshParkinson
the way to solve this is, take on contracting and get a lexion 600 ! job done
Paul Palmer
the way to solve this is, take on contracting and get a lexion 600 ! job done dont think josh, many 400 acre farms would own a lexion to go contracting with,i would say go with the claas domy
JoshParkinson
dont think josh, many 400 acre farms would own a lexion to go contracting with,i would say go with the claas domy I know it was just an idea, change the wheels and adjust the header on the tx66 and that would be perfect
WillTEF20
I've decided on a combine. John Deere 2266 As it's affordable and I like it
JoshParkinson
good combine. two problems, the header doesn't lift or lower and the rear wheels dont turn :-/ other than that it's a good combine
Deere-est
The reel falls out of the hangers and the auger doesn't swing out to the right position. .. as well as it being made of rubber .. . Other than that. . ..
Jez
Ahhhhhh you all see problems not opportunities.... Good choice that man!!
Tractorman810
seen a conversion somewhere of that model, header lifting, wheels steering the works, and it did improve the model no end, but as a base model its one of the few older jd combines arround and would not be out of place at all on a 400 acre farm ,so good choice
Pete
is it britains or ertl??
