unkelfergus
Sean,............when you were at school I bet your school reports all said ...."must pay more attention in class". Both those tractors have done more than 15000 hours each,...the 575 is on its way to 18000 hours with only new pistons, rings and big and small end shells at 12000 hrs. The 7840 hasnt had its front end touched at all,.....unlike its back end, which has been "delved" into several times. They have both been posted on this forum by myself and Cerin several times.... :P :P ..... One last picture,.............. It jolly well shines now,........can nearly see your face in it. :of I am just glad that the first load turned up at 9.30 instead of 11.30 this morning otherwise this powerfloating lark would have been even more nocturnal... ;) You need to have a go on one Mark,....what a bloody weird thing to operate. It will be here for the next week or so.. unkelfergus
How do you keep cats, rats etc off the setting concrete or does that not matter? What cats,........what rats......... : The first load is in by 9am and the fourth by 12.30 and because we are powerfloating it,there is always someone about well into late evening. Today we have floated the first two loads and are at this moment waiting for the last two loads to go off enough to get the float on. I think it will be a very late night or early morning. Lord Ferguson
What's the window of opportunity for floating like that then John does it suddently get 'beyond being floatable'

Sorry John I didn't mean to accuse you of having vermin on your premises. Even with people present, I find pets (particularly cats) want to walk over setting concrete > On a side note, didn't they use those floats as a basis for the hover cars in the first Star Wars film? \

unkelfergus
What's the window of opportunity for floating like that then John does it suddently get 'beyond being floatable' On a warm sunny day, maybe two hours after ,as long as you can walk on it without leaving a print, hit it once to "rough" it up a bit and then go away for an hour or so and leave it. Then hit it hard and keep going until it turns a darker grey and "shines" but only give it the absolute minimum amount of water if needed. On a dull cool drizzly day like yesterday we had to wait ages,..it just wouldn't go off Had an extremely late night last night,....the bloody powerfloat "shed" two trowels. I nearly pi$$ed myself laughing at my nephew trying to control it,........definitely dont reccomend that experience to anyone. Time the chap from the hire company got to us with a new set of trowels it had gone off too much so we had to handfloat finish the last two loads. Will put some more photos up tomorrow after load number twelve.
