Question

could someone please tell me how to split a casting because all the britains ones are carst with some rivets under the bonet usualy well the new ones are any way so i was going to drill them out and replace with screws so it makes it easyer to work with when doing future mods but i need to split the rest of the casting aswell or is it just the rivets holding it together but i would still like to know an easy way of splitting castings

please help me

If you just take the head off the rivet and not drill it out all you need to do whan you re-assemble it is add a drop of super glue to each rivet, that works for me and I've done one or two convo's.  :)

i might have a plan i will drill a hole all the way through the old rivet and the othe side of the tractor because the rivet does not go all the way though so i am going to have a look  in the garage and see what rivets there are and put a rivet all the way though the tractor and nock the pin out and then hit the end that i took the pin out of with a center punch so the end flers out but the waits on the front are not part of the tractor and are carst seperatly ad not riveted so how can i get them apart because i may put som siku front links on but i dont know yet so i dont whant to damage them

mmm maybe FP will numpty him for not reading the post clearly....like Rick and TM810 :D :D :D :D

I think it's in order ben  ;D

Anyway... as if I would suggest hitting a JD with a rolling pin  ::) - Sledge hammer maybe... but rolling pin  ::) - far too tame  ;D

Do Grans only have rolling pins then - Young people perception worries me nowadays  :-\

wont it be easyer to send the jd to fp/dt/pdc or someone as it seems to be causing u alot of trouble, ha ha!, its dead easy to drill the top off the rivits and then hold it back together with super glue! no need to start using rivits or roll pins if you want it apart again. (good idea markey with using a roll pin as it will expand into the hole and hold it tight but will tap out in the future)

I should say so Sparrow old bean.... that's the idea of a rollpin - they tap out easily and can be re-used  ;)

its a counter sunk rivot normaly like the ones we used to do in metal work

so all you need to do is drill through the head if you r scared of going too far just keep an eye on it  you normaly see a line going around the rivot making its self a bigger gap

as they all say you are only drilling a head off the rivot

good luck
