Gav836
No we always wanted a 7485 or 7490 on demo as we wanted the cvt transmission for the spud harvester, local dealer couldn't find one and still hasn't so we've gone over the border

Deere-est
Another nice tractor to try, it will be interesting to read your thoughts on it Gav as your other 'reviews' have been nice to read. Always a better read from someone using a tractor and solely testing it for printed stats. What is a beet machine like this going to set a man back then, Gav do you know? Jez
This little red thing also arrived on demo today but its too wet to do anything with it yet, will get some better pictures of it next week when its in use. First impressions of it are good though from taking it round the roads for a bit Did you have a deere out finally mate or not?
Gav836
No we haven't had a Deere out Jez, for one thing 7430 autopower's seem hard to come by and for another we really aren't that interested in them anymore

Much as it warms the cockles of my heart to hear that said about a Deere... I heard the same from a local farmer I know who has had a few MF's.... each one he had (all secondhand, and flogged to death I suspect) suffered EXPENSIVE gearbox failure. For this reason he would not hear a single bar of me singing the praised of the 7400 range... he's lost faith in the brand and that's that. Sounds like it's the same for you on the green & yellow front mate \ I suspect people like Deere and Massey have thrown thousands of pounds at a cure for this kind of "faith loss" in the potential tractor buyer... but this is where the 'human element' comes in to play I guess.... so I'd assume the net result is... it's all down to the salesman to convince your boss (and you of course !) that the newer Deere's are a viable alternative to everything else on the market \

It's a shame Gav, the 30 series really have got over the issues they had in the past and I can say that the machines rolling out from across the road to where I sit are much better and have all issues ironed out.... And.... if you did order one I would go and make sure it was put together by the best and most special people, I would even make a personal check down the line.... Or you can come and visit and watch it being built ;) Now there's an offer All said and done, good luck mate!!
