  1. I suppose, given your example of the JD, that you could always drill small holes into where the spool valves actually are cast into the tractor, just a thought but depends how you feel about drilling holes in your models
  2. Must be something to do with both those companies being main dealers for New Holland (Haynes) and Valtra (Suttons) i guess \
  3. Step 5 Push the ends of the wheel ram pipes up the end of the plastruct channel until the pipes look right along the sides of the Solo, then repeat this step for the press ram pipes Finally make a u shape out of the plastic coated wire and fit just behind the wheel ram mountings as a pipe clamp, it needn't be as big on yours but i still have to get 8 seeder tubes through it on this one as well
  4. :o :o :o http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRITAINS-KEENAN-KLASSIK-140-DIET-FEEDER-WAGON_W0QQitemZ130067155949QQihZ003QQcategoryZ117196QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRITAINS-NEW-HOLLAND-CX880-COMBINE-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ130067155171QQihZ003QQcategoryZ117196QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. No problems and if anyone else has any questions, please ask away! I considered all options for the hoses when i started doing these conversions and this seemed to be the easiest option
  6. Its entirely up to you Ben, i just find it easier and tidier to do it this way, especially as you have got 8 pipes coming into the channel and only 4 coming out, if you don't do it this way you will need to find a way of making the pipes look like they have 'T' pieces in them to join the left and right press and wheel ram pipes together
  7. Whilst waiting for the glue to go off i have drilled a hole in the drawbar level with the ram then fitted a lenght of plastic coated wire into it to act as a pipe guide. To do this you will need 7cm length of wire and to wrap one end of it around a pen or something similar to make a loop in one end
  8. Step 4 For the four pipes that go between the Solo and the tractor apply a blob of glue to the four pipes on one end whilst holding them together then push them approx 1-1.5cm up the front end of the plastruct channel then apply a small drop of glue to the front of the channel to hold them in place Once all the pipes are in place you will need to wait an hour or so for the glue to go off before you can go any further.
  9. This is the set you want to look for Ben, it was near all their own brand power tools in my local store, only about 3 inches across so may take some finding
  10. I got a set of 50 out of Homebase in sizes 1-2.5 mm for ?9.99 along with a cheap mitre block as well, can't remember what it cost though. My knife set came out of a QD store for under ?3
  11. Step 3 Take your super glue and apply a small drop to one end of each piece of wire, making sure that the wire is still round and has not been squashed oval whilst cutting it (shown in pic but hard to see) Note-watch your fingers with the glue whilst carrying this part out Fit the correct length pipe as listed above into the correct hole on the ram, i've started with the drawbar but it is entirely optional where you want to start
  12. Step 2 Cut your lengths of wire off to fit as pipes, approx lengths as follows 2 x 10cm for press ram outers 2 x 9cm for press ram inners 4 x 5cm for wheel lift rams 1 x 7cm for drawbar ram front pipe 1 x 8cm for drawbar ram rear pipe 4 x 10cm for solo to tractor pipes
  13. Step 1 Take your drill/dremel or whatever you decide to use and drill 2 1mm holes in each ram, one near the bottom nd one near the top as shown in the pictures, any paint loss at this point will be touched up later
  14. Following a request by Marky for me to do a topic like this some weeks ago i thought i would show you how to fit hydraulic hoses to a simba solo model, although this can be adapted for any other model. A relatively easy conversion to do, only tools being required are a drill and 1mm bit and wire cutters. You will need a length of black wire to use as the hose, i use black alarm system cable, the white cable that i use is the same and is only fitted due to this model eventually having a seeder hopper fitted and will act as the power cable to it. Already fitted to the Solo is a 8cm length of 6mm Plastruct U shaped channel along the top of the frame at the front end, this is to run the ends of the hoses into to tidy the model up. I am not showing this before fitting because A) the models need a full respray before i can sell them as britains got the colour wrong i don't have any Solo's that are not sprayed up or any more of that shape plastruct left You will need some super glue or similar to hold the wire in place. Also Used by me but optional for anyone else is a length of EMA Plastic coated wire as a pipe guide on the drawbar 1)What you need 2) The Plastruct channel in place
  15. Those Bobcat/skid steer loaders are handy machines, i was told that Gunthers where i work used to use them in the turkey sheds to push all of the muck into the central gangways before they had the Weidemann loaders, the old MF Industrial tractor/loaders couldn't get into the edges. If the skid steer is anything like our little Weidemanns, it'll lift a lot as the Weidemann will lift over a ton easily, also great fun to drive
  16. I think i'm right to say that these were badge engineered jobs done by Vicon/Greenland as i helped out for an autumn on a farm who ran a 6m Vicon badged model back in about 1999
  17. Struggling on making up model conversions despite feeling like sh!t thanks to a flu type virus
  18. It may be a big seller in certain places but i have yet to see any Redrock equipment about in this area other than one telehandler, its one of those not very well known brands over this side of the country, i'd never heard of them before i came on here, and as we know people often buy moels of what they see being used, get over the west side of the country then i think it may be a different story \ On the other hand it could be a good string to have to your bow because when other manufacturers get wind of how good the models are they may contact you as well. As Smurf says you can get a good idea of response from us lot here
  19. There are several turf farms in this area, i'm guessing thats what you mean Rick. A lot of people use grass harrows with seeders fitted for sowing the grass, shameless plug on my part i know : http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=12097.0
  20. Well one of its sister tractors is in after needing an engine overhaul and the 640 is now waiting to go in due to electrical faults, there's always one of them in the workshop but mine has done 6800hrs on an 02 plate now. Pee'd off don't come close i can tell you, got my eye on a replacement though, might show you on MSN if you can stop your lovey dovey chat to your lady long enough :D
  21. Well we fill it up out of cans out on site so we're guessing its condensation build up that escaped the filters. Landy shouldn't be too bad as the switches aren't dear IF thats what it is. However its the last straw, as soon as i can find a replacement its going!!
  22. I'd go with Fiat tractor as well, looks like a sand cleaner on the back
  23. Had an absolute barsteward of a day, it all started so well too, 48tons of muck delivered by 9am, then it went downhill fast. Not only has it been thick freezing fog for the last 3 days, to top it off today my tractor decides to lose power followed by errattic running. I get our engineer out from the yard, we change the filters and clean up the fuel lines, it decides it will run for a minute then start belching out white smoke and clattering like a bag of spanners. We decide to clean all the fuel lines out and then it runs perfectly....................................for 1/4 of a mile while taking a load out Result is it has been low loader'd back to the yard with suspected water in the injector system needing new injectors and the pump reconditioned You'd think it can't get any worse right? WRONG! On the way home tonight my lovely Land Rover decides it doesn't like having working lights or indicators on a narrow backroad - it's now been recovered back to my usual garage so we can see whats wrong tomorrow, we suspect its the switches though. Merry f*@king christmas!! \
