  1. Cheers Dan Thanks Stan, will look a bit beefier when i get her sat on new boots, going to swap the 38's for 34's, there's not much in the rolling radius so she'll still be a flyer Cheers John, Don't forget the radio.... though with the sunroof open it's music to the ears listening to the whistle of that 4/98... Brian the bloke that had her prior to me blasted and painted the bonnet, did the roof and wheels and blew a bit of black about the chassis but the cab and mudguards were left as they were, just the lefthand bit of cladding got swapped, it's had a lesiurely life and but the look of it never really seen much life on a dairy farm or if it has it's been kept out of the muck. Brian told me from what he'd found out about her history, she'd been on a farm along with 804xl, and when she went as trade in they swapped parts off the xl on to this to keep the better parts namely the front tyres. She's done a touch under 2000 hours so barely run in.... Hahahaha Cheers Martin..... good job the sun was out at the time, not 10 minutes after i'd got her backed back in the shed that the heavens opened for a proper downpour..... i don't know about changing the title of the thread yet.... it was a Major Mission trying to find the special hub socket to get the hubs off the axle, hence i think when the seals went the owner at the time couldn't do anything with it as at 850ft/lbs you can't just tap it round with a hammer and chisel Though having friends in Lancaster and Moffet with various Leylands and Marshalls, and Charnleys just down the road parts and information isn't a problem Thanks Justin aye she should be 82 hp, not big by todays standards, but was deemed big back in the early 80's, the 804 was Marshalls range topper until the release of the 904 which was basically the same tractor tweaked abit more to 90hp until the release of the square bonneted 100-125hp 6 cylinder 100 series. Once i sorted the tyres out then i'll find a bit of work for her, she'll travel on 34's on the land better than the narrower 38's. in a way she's set up for a plough but i'm not that way inclined hahaha. Cheers Sean Aye that was her at Malvern, heard her whistling from across the road in the carpark... but didn't know it was her until i got walking along the line in the auction and saw the weight tray extention.....best bit is the last two letters of the reg are my initials, PW so it's as if she had my name on her from day one..... at the time though there was and still is something else i should have put my money into work-wise but after missing her 3 times prior it was worth the chasing after Malvern to broker a deal.....Happy 40th Birthday to me! hahaha.... admittedly a bit early as it's not till December hahaha
  2. Well here she is, my new toy to replace the major....... in the shape of a 1983 Marshall 804, one tractor that's been on my wishlist for the past decade, and i've chased this one about abit over the past couple of years, always just missing the boat when she appeared for sale, her last attendance at a sale was at Malvern earlier this year but again at the time i didn't know the then owner had entered her in the sale, to cut a long story short after a bit of digging and a handful of phone calls and emails a deal was struck. Was hoping she would have made the local steam fair at the end of May but it wasn't to be after finding issues with leaking front axle hub and halfshaft seals meant a rebuild of the front axle was the only soloution..... a seat cover is fitted but the seat is very good underneath, a couple of first photo's show interior from the sale at Malvern..... And how she stands this afternoon.....just a pity you can't hear the whistle of the turbo
  3. Would send it up to you if i could John , forecast on radio reckons we might see a thunder shower later.... but your right, it'll probably start spitting by the time you've had the headlands dropped on the first meadow....
  4. That's looking great James, looks as though there's been many a trip up and down those stone stairs with the wear on them good luck with the rest of the layout and look forwards to seeing it at Penrith
  5. Hope it keeps dry for you Smithy, it's just started raining up here in the Valley.....
  6. Did you get the project finished Joe or is it still an ongoing job? knowing you it'd be an interesting build of something abit less common
  7. Those 400's be a bit of a rare machine Martin....nice find with the brochures
  8. Hope its a good weekend for you Smithy, and fingers crossed you add something to the collection whilst your over at the show with all this grafting.... your allowed to treat yourself from time to time
  9. See your still a busy man Smithy.... but looks like your making good progress with some of your projects
  10. Some more great additions to a great collection Martin
  11. Nice selection of additions there Brian
  12. A savage amount of models you had out there Cyril
  13. Great photo's Justin, some i must have missed in previous threads but glad to have seen them now Look forwards to you adding more photo's over this years show season
  14. Like John said... you don't see many like that at 3 years old.... 3500 miles.... barely run in at that best plug the speedo drive back in before you take her for the first MOT John hahahahha, only joking, from the photo's you've posted of your machinery you take a pride in looking after your gear.
  15. Was going to say the same thing Martin, good on you Ben for trying something different
  16. A lucky find then Smithy, Good to hear your getting through your projects and hope once you get back to sensible hours you'll get a bit of time to enjoy her
  17. Busy times again for you then Smithy, at least you haven't spent all your hard earned on models with your new David Brown tractor too Hope your keeping well and that you enjoy your new toy
  18. Cheers John, to be fair i don't mind a Case, the yard where i had the major stored for almost 2 years had a pair of 956's, one had been blown with a TB Turbo kit, sounded beastly I'm sure what's in the pipeline will be just as fun It's a purchase Jack, though should probably be a purchase to earn me money rather than what i'm actually looking at No not a Bowler Sean..... be a fun toy but no Cheers Martin, aye Jack's Fergy's and dexta are all well restored, Hell there's nowt up with your eyesight.... yep it's a New holland hoody but that's not a clue either hahaha
  19. Time will tell what it is Justin Cheers wasn't concours but tidy enough to park on a rally field, had some fun with the Major but as they say you can't have or do everything the decision was made to move her on, She still might get washed off and taken to our local show by its new owner but last i heard she was away down the woods on the estate with a 3pt linkage skidding winch pulling timber..... Hahaha i like your thinking but sadly no to both counts Martin.... From what you were saying about the almost swamp like conditions you've had these past couple of weeks, maybe a hovercraft might not be such a stupid idea.....could have it on hire to you then Even though i get the drive of my uncle Jacks 35x when he's short of a driver to get his tractors home from his local ag show i wouldn't be going down that route...... red really isn't my colour Taken last August afore we set off with the 35, the dexta behind and a 135...and it started to put an odd spot or rain down.......
  20. As one or two of you on here already know that a couple of weeks ago i moved my major on to a new home, She hasn't gone too far but has gone out of preservation and back into a bit of work amongst some firewood and a bit of woodland management. Moving her on allowed me to release a few funds towards a new toy......... although the funds should have really gone toward a long term project thats high on my list of things to do and even higher after recent events but thats another kettle of kippers...... but there's possibly something that i've had my eye on for a while now, so i might try and strike a deal whilst the irons hot......hopefully more update soon
  21. This is what i was looking for whilst i found the Doe implement brochures.... after seeing Andrew Andersons 32nd scale single axle Bateson at Penrith and the Scottish Tractorworld i knew i had a brochure for them somewhere.....
  22. Look forward to seeing a few photo's of her alongside the rest of your silage team for this year Martin, Nice addition to your collection
