  1. I can't see the value in them that folks are paying - for me, all it looks like is a small amount of airbrushing and suddenly it is a 'rare' limited edition. What I call cashing in - but hey people are paying for them.............. Totally agree, there is a better skill base from members on here than what I often see 'out there'
  2. Having to stop 6-7 times on the way to work to chuck snow on the windscreen because me washers never defrosted!!! Oh and some young idiot rear ending some one else because they wanted to get where they were going just that few seconds quicker. Resultant tail back was v. long.
  3. Ditto that. Will be very interesting, I bet there are very few folks who really know the full extent of all the POS, catalogues etc.
  4. Interesting that...the start of a new series I guess..........
  5. Just the three books - the ones you have and the combine book. Though I wish there were more on implements - they are excellent books well worth the money in my opinion.
  6. I am quite please with this actually - it is the very first release with no straw walker weight and clipped as aposed to 'hub capped' front wheels. Made for less than the first year of production - from what I can gather.
  7. Funny that - I did a check on it to see, and found out exactly that! circa 1979 so that gives credence to its' age!! I wonder if it was actually on a combine.....?
  8. Before I bust something I didn't intend to - could some please help? What is the best way to take off the exhaust stack on the early version? I need to replace one that is broken in the usual way. Thanks all.
  9. Finally picked up my Straw Boxed MF 760 Combine today - and it came with age related plates on it!!!
  10. Thanks for the link - great topic. Didn't realise the range was that extensive - every day is a school day!!
  11. I am fairly sure that this may have been covered before but cant find the topic. I am more or less aware of the range of 'Home Farm' series releases ie. the tractors, in and around the late 80's and early 90's. However there are/were animal/figure releases too. Could someone with greater knowlege than me, enlighten me as to the complete range or where I can find out the info. Reason being i saw 2 E27Ns and a few other 'Home Farm' sets today and wonder how extensive the releases were. Also a rough idea on value would be tip top!! Thanks in advance
  12. Mint in Straw Box MF 760 Combine for under £20 posted - job's a goodun!
  13. Farmmodels Balfour Beaty Blue MTX 155 MIB for under £30 posted and another Britains MF 362 MIB for under £15 posted chuffed is I
  14. The pest issue is a questionable one because they are fairly static and 'crop up' whenever a host is grown. Ground damage is down to how you farm it. One of the main reasons for a rotaion apart from different income streams and workload, is soil born pathogens.....in my humble of course! N.B. - other opinions on this subject are available
  15. In most arable situations the first point would be 'whats the point'? The main idea of a break is to do just that and then get back into a wheat etc. Getting back to your question, break crops do need a break too. For example OSR followed quickly with another builds up the risk of Sclerotinia, Peas or Beans grown too closely increases the risk of Fusarium Foot Rot. There is a myriad of other reasons but that would bore the preverbial off you! The one obvious situation where the above is not true is on light land able to grow higher value crops. What would be a break type crop on heavy land is the 'wheat' on light land. Often this type of land will be double cropped so that you in effect have two break crops in one year. This could well be followed by another year of intensive high value crops before a 'break crop' of Wheat or, more likely, Barley.
  16. Still see a few of these working out on the east coast (Norfolk/Suffolk). I my experience they are only suitable for small seeds having tried one with peas..........
  17. Surely if you want a price for some thing then you set the starting bid at that price? Personally I never use auction with a BIN price as well because you end up paying for two listing fees........... Do one or tuther in my humble. I dont use reserves either because of the same reason - cant see the point if you as the seller need/want a certain amount for something. Why not let everyone know at the beginning??? This is just waffle...........someone trying to play the system....
  18. Happy Birthday Boss man - though I guess you will be far too drunk to see this message! Or maybe you will see a couple of them
  19. I think that is as extreme a case of schill bidding as I have ever seen!!! Or both bidders have been on something VERY illegal......
  20. A to remain un-named tractor mag (cos Rorys' is better!), has a yard scraper of the month so I thought I would start off a topic just for a laugh.... I don't even have a yard to scrape! However I did have a spare Britains 6600 so decided to turn it into a yard scraper just for a bit off fun.... It has been heavily aged (not a professional job just me and a paint brush). The scraper is scratch built just off the top of my head and the 'muck' is tea from a used tea bag mixed with a bit of paint!! Complete with bent linkage as per the one I used to drive as a 14 year old!! So come on.....show us your scrapers!!!
  21. Got this photo from a friend in NZ - not my thing but by heck it's a beast though! For all you forager fans enjoy......
  22. Gotta love some folks dont you........... Some profit they hope to make seeing as they only cost about £7 and £4 respectively.........
  23. Britains MF 6290 and Early MF 362 mint boxed for £30 reasonably pleased with the prices considering the daft money 6290's are going for nowadays.........
