  1. Difficult to answer this one the best way is to say all of the above and then maybe the rest of everything else There are so many variables that you could have 20 options and you wouldn't have covered them all............
  2. Now we are talking Lets hope this is the first of many SG models!!! When is my first question - any ideas Atte?
  3. Thank you for your reply Bill - always good to see you on here. I must admit I am impressed with the current crop of John Deere derivatives. Please keep up the 'classic' lines too, they are very good.
  4. In one respect it could help..... Think about putting £1 in the bank now. At best you can get 2 -3% on an average deal. So after a year your pound will have turned into £1.03 (forgive me for being basic about this). Roughly, in 5 years time if interest rates stay the same you could have the grand total of £1.16! My theory is put that pound into certain farm models and I would be bold enough to say it would be worth more than that...... ....just a theory, though that is what I am doing in a small way
  5. I 'Love em'. I had a spell buying UH but stopped for several reasons one of which is that I don't really 'feel' anything for them - it's a nostalgia thing. I now only buy Britains/ERTL and am slowly slimming down the UH stuff. I think part of the attraction to Britains is that they are a toy rather than collector items. The more basic nature is a positive in my mind. The more detail you try and cram in, the more critical you get over the model, when it is missing something minor. Whereas with a toy any fine detail you do get is a bonus! If you compare a modern Britains toy with one from only 10 years ago the improvements (aside from the hitch) are a quantum leap forward. However I would guess that for most of us slighly older collectors it's the nostalgia that wins every time. For example if you were to put a Britains 135 next to a UH 135 which one would most of us pick? No brainer in my mind. I no longer carpet farm but I think that Britains display as well as anything else, they are still good to look at (bar a couple of recent disasters) and with some of the ERTL based limited editions are nearly on par with anything else. I do hope Britains/ERTL and Siku are here to stay and would not shed a tear if UH, for example, were a victim of their success or more likely victim of trying to bully everyone else out of the market!
  6. Best place is good old ebay - though you might have to buy from the US....... They do crop up every now and again. The other way might be the big shows such as Spalding - but be prepared to pay - they aint cheap where ever you get them from :'(
  7. Got 3 Waterloo Employee 8345RT's wending their way over from Uncle Sam - hopefully they arrive in one piece.......... \
  8. Anyone know the difference between this and the shelf version? Seems to me there wouldn't be too much more you could do to it.......... \
  9. 2x JD 8330 Prestige JD 8440 JD 7520 What is this like? It's on my shopping list........
  10. What I find a bit random about this one is that you can pick it up for a decent amount less than a standard shelf version................... \ And yes I have picked a few up!!
  11. Another one - this is how it was when I got it so my thinking would be if he knew what it was a cab and front grill decal would have been put on it............ \
  12. Took a punt with this one today...........the guy was selling it at £10 which was £10 cheaper than a dual wheel 595. I am hoping that he just didn't realise what it was...... What is the opinion on this? Genuine?
  13. Broken my self imposed buying ban as we are moving house...... 2 x Britains JD 8345RT Britains MF 3680 Duals proper mint one boxed Another Siku Farmer + 8270 xtra MIB
  14. For the 8430T Gold one you had to be one of the jammy sods at the front of the line at Agritechnica a few years ago.
  15. Have two of these on the way. I have seen the Waterloo edition, does anyone know if there are to be any other versions? The last model had 8430T US and EU, 8230T and the 8330T Collectors, oh and the Gold one which I have a couple of........NOT! :'( Cheers all.
  16. I hate to be pedantic but that aint always the case. When all the prices went up a while back they soon after increased their existing stock (you can tell I go in a lot ). But you are right about some of the older UH stock, especially in the older 'green' boxes.
  17. The only thing they are short on is limited stuff and dealer boxed, etc. But for the shelf items, you wont see any more in one place!
  18. Would be cheap at twice the price.............
  19. If anyone is after the ERTL Precision 8430 with duals, you are unlikley to get a better deal than this! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280448100045&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I see that the prices are steadily rising again after RC2 dumped them onto the market - so arguably it may be the time to pick one or two up......... \
  20. I will deffo second that one Andy. I am a regular there an know the guys quite well. It is almost getting to be a day out visit now! There are some older models there - specially UH. They plan to make the new displays Museum quality so it will almost become a tourist attraction! I think I am right in saying it is now second only in size to an aircraft hangar sized model/toy shop in the states! That is how big it is for the un-initiated! There is plenty there for the younger children too.....if only I was young again..... :'(
  21. Too true. I only buy Britains now, call it nostalgia if you like - it also means I don't have to keep up with the plethora of other models out there!! Also if you catch them right you can still bag a reasonable bargain on ebay..... Just won a Tarmac cement mixer, posted for less than I could ever have bought it in a shop
