  1. The local fruit farm near here has a County 1174 with 2wd. Think Ford 7810 only 100 times sexier! One day, in the near future, I'll get a picture of it, and post it on here. I promise. S:
  2. How much did Marky Mark pay you to position the 6290 in front of the roller? (... as if a 6290 would even know what to do with 14 tons! We've a local contractor who uses the 6290 to pull the empty Red Rock Dumper back to the quarry, and a 1965 pre-force Ford 5000 Super Major to pull the full load to the building site.) Okay, maybe I've had one pint of Heineken too many. It was a 1969 Ford Force 5000!
  3. I think the New Holland TG has nothing to worry about so, never mind the Fordson E27 .................. (Never could understand the attraction of a green/yellow colour scheme)
  4. Memories of a summer spent drawing away from a Clayson M103 with a 12ft header and a Claas Mercator with a 10ft header using a BMC/Austin tipper and a DB 1210 pulling a BMC/Austin chassis with the cab cut off and a home made tipper body on the back. I was too young to have a licence (14/15?), but we always managed to swap vehicles before I hit the public road. I have a particular memory of getting the truck (empty) stuck in the stable yard on greasy cobblestones and having to make what should have been a 90 degree right turn by doing a 450 degree left turn, in a very tight space. All the time mindful that there were two combines waiting for me to arrive back to empty them. Needless to say, John Leathers has a buyer for one of his M103s in this parish in the not too distant future. The BMC/Austin had power steering (Thank God!) but the 4 speed box with Eaton splitter was - how should I phrase this? - great fun!
  5. Does using the word "Ergonomic" and "Leyland" in the same post entitle one to a Numpty?
  6. I thought you might say that! I feel a DX110 : JD4020 hybrid with DX 4.70 decals coming on!
  7. I love pics of working machinery! V nice kentman. (ps: if anyone has a broken Grimme harvester, or one they've converted to a trailed machine, I'm looking for two wheels off one for a planned mod, thx)
  8. Love the pics! Ever think of buying some rear wheel weights for the IH? Meanwhile, what are the tyre sizes on the 4.70, and does it have a 4 or 5 cylinder engine? S:
  9. I thought there was a rule against posting any new Galloping Goat pictures? If there isn't, there should be!
  10. I have the older DT version, and it is the dogs. It clips on to the JCB quick attach frame. Very nice!
  11. Claas Combines were marketed by Ford in the Colonies. Originally they were branded as Ford combines (Senator/Dominator). If you look closely behind the cab it says "Marketed thru Ford Dealers". Maybe Bob Turk can provide more info as they were quite popular in his part of the World.
  12. For 4wd you can buy the JOAL front axles (mudguards or no mudguards) from lots of places. www.farmmodels.co.uk springs to mind For front axles your best bet is the Britains JD4020, particularly if you want a working axle and very realistic wheels. Hope this helps S:
  13. It's not my layout - unfortunately! I met these guys on Saturday and they had the pics on their camera so I burned the pics onto a CD. They live about 10 minutes from Michael of Farmmodels.Net fame. It's a small world! I haven't seen the display yet, but it is 8 x 4 in size. They have plans for another 8x4 to go beside it. Here's a couple more of the 5 span haybarn.
  14. Here's a couple of pics of a layout built by the Moynan Bros who live about 20 minutes from me. More pics in the near future.

Met an old friend recently. He runs Valtra and Ford/NH. He had two Deutz in the 90s, a 6.30 and a 6.05, and he got rid of them for a Valtra 8400 and TM 125 because they overheated, had crap brakes, and wouldn't pull up a hill. Donoghue's would love to sell him a Fendt!

Case? JXU is a Fiat MXU is a Ford MXM is a Ford CVX is a Steyr STX is a Steiger ... and as for IH!!!! They make trucks. Around here the 6*20 JDs are being dumped as fast as can be. Nothing but trouble in terms of engine, tranny and back end by all accounts. Fendt are the big winners as JD owners view anything else as trading down. New Fendt dealers have opened close to a number of JD dealers recently. I asked a Steyr head why somebody wasn't importing Steyrs to take some of the snob market from Fendt, and he told me that CNH are currently trying to find a buyer for the St Valentin Plant. Will Case exit Europe? Will SDF or ARGO buy Steyr to get a quality brand? Will Claas buy Steyr to compensate for the shortcomings of the Renaults? Will Ford buy Steyr and get back into the tractor business? ... who knows, who can tell, is this heaven, is this hell, anyone for the last few choc-ices?
  17. Have a good one Bill! Looking forward to seeing pics of your desk again!
  18. You haven't seen their MF6290 then! There's a pic of it on their home page.
  19. That is one superb model! Well done Ian & Paul. Looking forward to the next one already!
  20. Not yet, but we live in hope! Lots of people on here have been writing to Santa asking him to bring you a new Job Description for Christmas. Responsibility for Europe and the introduction of a new 1:32 Construction line are the main changes. Keep up the good work Bill!
