For anyone who was caught on the M6 today around the Wigan area I am sorry but we had a rather delicate recovery to do. A car towing a horsebox overturned but thankfully the horses on board were not badly hurt, although they were very stressed. Unfortunately, some idiot drivers were going past and blasting their horns as we were getting the animals out which absolutely did nothing to calm them down. >

According to Crilley and Burkholder the "424" model was produced in 1976 and the "426" with the cab was produced in 1978. Both were originally made in Germany and are 1/29 scale and the cabbed version was also made in the more usual green. Gama also made a similar version with a roll over frame (ROPS) which was available in both red and green and both with and without a side mower. They are certainly rare these days but I don't have any information as to how many were actually produced in either colour. I have seen these make up to £70 on a good day on eBay but, as with all auctions, you could also get a bad day when they make much less than that.

I have had a saved search for SAME tractors for several years and in all that time I have never seen a 1/43 Same Tiger 100 by Polistil except in the Crilley and Burkholder book, until last week that is......it was delivered today as there was no way I was ever going to be outbid for it :

Got a letter from a gentleman today who liked the article I did for SAME tractors in the Model Farmer magazine. He told me a bit about his own farming history and the SAME tractors he has owned over the years. It turns out that it was his SAME 360C that was the model for the Country Artists sculpture called "Breaking New Ground" which is the 360C pulling a four furrow Ransomes plough. 8)
