  1. Well the real tractors are different in respect of the model number on the bonnet and the fuel pump setting, I hope Imber models have respected these two differences and besides changed the number on the side have also tweaked the fuel pump

  3. Nice tractor, F reg gives registration date of August 1967 to July 1968. Keep the cab and get it repaired, so few about with the Sekura cab.
  4. The JD has probably had a hard life and hence lost it's brown interior and had replacement 50 series side grills in black fitted. The driver obviously also broke the lights at the front of the mudguards and fitted spurious replacements!
  5. Well done for posting all those brochures. Great stable trailers that ride like a Rolls Royce, smooth. As stated they were strong but looked to be made from tin cans!
  6. Disc ploughs as shown in your last photo are suited to very dry conditions, not typical British soils. Bruff were a company that built drainage machines up to the early 1990's. They used Roadless and finally Jeweltrac tractors and fitted everything around it and sold it as a complete machine.   7. Yes, that's the one BC. I thought Scottish Aviation at first then thought it was a bit Duncanish! It seems a mix of the two! So the next question is when did Alexander Duncan start cab production? and what years were Scottish Aviation building operator weather protection modules?
  8. Amazing how the paint can change the impression of a machine, Looks great in Case red but nothing in Mengele blue. Likewise the pics of the Case chopper with red Valtra and yellow Western trailer really stand out but the Fendt and green trailer just ruins the picture.
  9. A 2wd will be more maneuverable, be cheaper to replace tyres and have less moving parts to go wrong. No reason a 2wd will not go most places in maize fields if you know how to load the trailer, fill the front to get some weight on the tractor back axle and you won't get stuck except in extreme conditions where really you shouldn't be harvesting anyway.
  10. Great pictures. Looks like an early Duncan cab on the 135 reg CSA677C, is the roof original? Also a Dexta reg CSA627C, how often do two tractors registered so close get onto the same rally field.

  12. Ag tyres do not like road work, they are designed to grip and self clean on soil. First thing to do is get the front tyres turned around, that will reduce wear, they won't clean as well but your not really using the tractor in muddy conditions. With the cleats in the other direction grip is also increased. Longer term you should get those industrial tyres. Don't forget to get the correct ratio between front and rears to eliminate drive line problems. Good idea to change before fully worn and refit for trading in, no farmer will want a tractor on industrial tyres.

    I like the 70's clip, never seen another 80 loader trip and empty the dung so well! I presume the clips of the 50's and 60's are the same as the second sight dvd's?
  15. All those obstacles make the job more interesting. You could be sat on a motorway all day! Get all four wheels off that 8x0 combine, get some adaptor plates and mount them on the 168.

  18. They did self propelled and trailed foragers. My question is Who built the slurry tankers? Some look like they could be Weeks but the 100 with single axle and cleated tyres always looked unique.

  20. Good info in this thread, keep the items coming Marky. There must be a MF beet harvester or Potato harvester, I know they did a potato spinner, what about planter as well? Britain had the 3165S Marky and I would think the 3165R was available. I'd like to know how many were sold.

I bet you lost the spreadsheet too \ Indeed and MF didn't build 200 series trailers either or much anything excpt tractors and they don't build all of them themselves. As an aside I think I have cracked the 1x5/1x8 query having re read the relevant section in Brian Bells "50 years of farm tractors" and compared it to Marky's explanation the other day, 178 replaced 175 both tractors had same wheel base and 6 speed gearbox. Later super spec 8 series introduced with longer wheelbase and 8 speed gearbox. 185 introduced at same time to replace 178. 185 had no spacer and had 6 speed gearbox.
  22. Good idea to ask how many implements MF sold (don't think we question the 30 drill) but many of the others that were badge engineering may have sold very few. I think a list of all implements sold with a Massey badge should be listed and classified by country and year. Over to you Lord Agco
  23. Flat eights, grabs, accumulators, you don't need to waste money on all that technology, mesh floored trailers (no need for expensive luxuries like brakes) and a pitch fork is all you need to go moving bales with.
  24. Yes, once more your right, I should think before opening my big mouth! Good point but the 825 will cost less to develop and produce than the 8690 simply because it uses many fewer parts. Shipping cost per model will be far lower since it will weigh the same as a butterfly and finally the French will buy multiple batches to modify. Very few will be sold in the UK since it was never sold in Britain and holds no special interest for British collectors.
