The Aughton Valley Collection

Recommended Posts

That's how I'd like to follow up the collection I have of what I have driven, with photos of the real machines.

Sounds like a fantastic idea Tris. I'd certainly like to have a few more models displayed in a similar way to the Challenger combine with my photography hobby and model collecting running hand in hand. Whether it be looking for a particular model to display with a machine i've found to capture or vice versa. :)

On a similar theme, I wouldn't mind recreating this ploughing scene my Dad captured of a later Case IH 1455XL setting out on it's maiden voyage 20 years ago.

Some very nice new items you have there. Like the red one 8)

Texas

Thanks Bas. The big "Nash" is a fantastic model, my kind of tractor. Rather looking forward to adding the forthcoming Repliagri International releases to keep it ( and my Britains Internationals ) company in one of my cabinets. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

As mentioned in another topic i've had a rather large shift around of furniture in the room my collection is displayed and a rather large re-think in my own collecting habits which i'm now determined to stick to.

So with the main focus of my collection now being placed on classics, conversions and custom builds here's a couple of shelves i've put together tonight that i'm rather pleased with.

P1110462.jpg

Having waited thirteen years for a shelf partner my Big Bud 440 on triple wheels now has three new friends.

I should have individual photographs of my most recent Spalding purchases posted up over the course of the next few days.

Thats a nice collection there David, very interesting to see the more individual pieces, than rows of standard items

I'm looking forward to seeing your Spalding purchases David, I'm quite curious to see what the Schucco Deere 3120 is like along with some more pics of your new Ford 7610  ;)

Thanks Mark, very pleased with the direction it's now heading in and really enjoyed setting that particular Massey Ferguson shelf as it's a good example of what i'd like to achieve with the other themes in my collection now. There's only one run-of-the-mill general release in that line up. A standard UH 3080. Whilst i'll be keeping an eye out for any forthcoming classic general releases I don't plan on buying anymore modern releases unless they're absolutely essential to completing a certain line up or they're tractors like the black Fendt 939 that's received the "convo" treatment.

Must say whilst it's not a common tractor to this country I had a good look at Weise-Toys Massey Ferguson 1014 on Sunday and thought it looked superb whilst I await with much anticipation for Schuco's Deutz DX230 to arrive.

As for their John Deere 3120, I reckon many will argue that the £40+ price tag is a bit on the steep side for the amount of model you get. But I think it's a fantastic model loaded with detail and really looks the part. Mine is now lined up alongside my Britains 4020 variations. I'll post photographs of it and the 7610 ( was about to say tommorow ) later today when i'm a little more awake. :)

I'm still in the process of sorting out my collection however here's the first of my classic era purchases from my trip to Spalding.

Schuco's recently released John Deere 3120. Aside from the chunky rear lower link arms which are of the same type used on the International 1455XL and Fendt 626LSA that look a little bit out of place it's hard to fault this lovely model. Some may say the £40 price is way over the top, given there's no opening bonnet or removable panels, but I disagree. It's packed with detail, boasts functional steering a removable front weight block and to me just looks the part from almost every angle.

I really hope we see further classic John Deere releases from them. I can think of countless classic 20 series and 30 series variations i'd dearly love to see produced.

Moving onto one of two really modern models I bought, starting with the show model. This is the first Spalding edition tractor i've bought and i'm very impressed with it. It's lined up alongside my more basic standard release TTX210. However I have made a minor tweak to this tractor having swapped the A - frame front linkage ( which i'm not a fan of )  for a much more appealing weight block from my Siku Farmer+ Deutz Agrotron 230. I think they look rather nice sat together.

Whilst here's the second modern model tractor I bought, a flagship for my Fendt collection in the shape of this black 939. Now i'm a sucker for Wiking model, stunning models in their own right but made even more so when they've being given the Peter Hardy treatment. What a beauty.

Thanks for the pics David, a great reference point for models that people may be thinking about adding to their collection.

I think a Schucco Deere will be coming home from Toytrac with me if I can get one there, it looks a sturdy, but well detailed model.

The Fendt is nice - some shine on that black paintwork !!

You've picked up some rather nice County's as well, along with the Roadless which I would imagine is rather hard to find these days.

You're very welcome Mark, thanks ever so much for your kind comments too. The only thing you have to be careful with regards the 3120 is the weight block. It does slide very easily along it's carrier and there's nothing to stop it from falling off. It's still fantastic model though.

The 939 is one my favourite modern machines in my collection and the finish Peter has a achieved is nothing short of stunning. In fact i've been trying handle it as little as possible just in case I put my grubby little finger prints all over it. :D

Very pleased with my County line up. In fact i'm very tempted to add a some already built up Scale Down models to compliment them in the future. The DBP County tractors all came from Cenfyn Davies's stand which I always enjoy visiting. He had many other fascinating Countys, Does, and Roadless tractors built buy himself and the likes of DBP and G and B. The Roadless came from Brian Norman and was sat alongside cabless 115 and 120 models too, aswell as his stunning Massey Ferguson 1200.

Whilst here's my MFM Ford 7610 Gen III. It includes Universal Hobbies and Britains parts aswell as Martin's exceptional model making skills.

Loving Martyns 7610 Gen III. I must admit to not owning one of those babies yet..will chase him down at Toytrac  ;)

I must say you really give off a warm feeling about the passion of your collection which is fantastic to see..you clearly buy models to enjoy them  ;)

Thanks ever so much Barry for very your kind comments and for the models I bought from you on Sunday, chuffed to bits with them all. Really pleased with my line up of Big Buds too. I stand to be corrected on this but I think I now have a complete line up of Ertl "Toy Farmer" Series 4 Big Buds based around the same casting. The 440 on triples came from my first ever trip Spalding back at the sping show in 1998, so it was really nice to gather up the other three from you on Sunday, much appreciated. :)

Martyn's 7610 Gen III is a little gem of a model and i'm really pleased to now have some of his work residing in my collection alongside the many other specialist model builder's work i've also acquired in recent years. It's models such as this that put the biggest smile on my face, way over and above any of the general releases I have. :)

I've definitely rediscovered my passion for collecting over the latter part of this year. At the beginning of the year my interest had began to wain ever so slightly. I think this was largely down to the shear volume of general releases flooding the collector's market and I started to feel like my collection was lacking direction and individuality. It's really nice to be focusing on collecting models and displaying themes I enjoy the most rather than randomly buying any Britains, Siku and UH general releases, like I have done so many times in the past. :)

Speaking of the Series Four Big Bud models produced by Ertl for Toy Farmer, here they all are. All these tractors are based on the same casting with subtle variations in details and model numbers. They make for my favourite line up of articulated tractors to reside in my collection.

Starting with the 370 Power Shift.

P1110515.jpg

Followed by the "Bafus Blue" variation. Farmer Robert Bafus who once ran a fleet of Big Buds and had them all painted in his own livery right down to the cars and trucks that also resided on his farm.

P1110518.jpg

Whilst here's my 500 Power Shift with the real deal occupying the background.

P1110521.jpg

P1110523.jpg

My line up of Big Buds including my long standing triple wheeled 440 Power Shift. Plenty of carpet acres required ( and shelf space ) for these four prairie monsters.

Looking at your lineup of 3000 series massey's it highlights what I do to the beacons, I wonder why UH put it ontop of such a long pole?

Certainly look much nicer cut down compared to the UH original design. Will have your 3000 series tractors and Ian's rowcrop 3095 photographed in all there glory very soon. :)

Back to the prairie monsters. I also picked up this rather smart Ertl Toy Farmer Steiger Super Wildcat Series II from Barry too. I've been looking for this version for some time now that now joins a colourful articulated line up based around this particular casting.

Steiger Wildcat variations.

Whilst here they are joined by the Allis Chalmers 440 with it's more square bonnet and my Co-op Implements liveried tractor.

Alongside my other big Toy Farmer Steiger.

I like the look of that Roadless 95 model David and look forward to seeing photos when you get the other two ;) ;)

It's a beautifully crafted model Bill that came in a very nice printed box with signed certificate. The equal wheel 115 and 120 are definitely on my future shopping list. :)
