Gav836
I decided that I would like a period trailer of the right size to go with my Imber Ford 5640's so settled on building an 8 ton Bailey. Been working on it on and off for a couple of days while I wait for a delivery of materials to finish a few other bits of. Pictures are very much work in progress so its still a bit messy in areas at the moment with rams left to make, drawbar and tail board to tidy up. Undecided at the moment on the tailboard, wether to make it an auto door or a manual door \
MATTY 7530
Looks the part Gav.
sparrow legs
looks good, on a 8 tonner i would leave it a manual door

1/32collector
very nice build you have made your self, looks the job behind the tractor. but if i can say would a single axle not be more common for a 8 ton trailer, sorry had to ask. jason
Deere-est
Looks nice so far Gav, what wheel/tyre combo have you used?
Gav836
Thanks guys It's more common to see 8 tonners as tandem axle trailers around this way Jason, anything smaller than that is more common in a single axle form locally They are the wheels off the old Siku trailes Tris, they work out about the right size for this model
Deere-est
They look just right mate, just the job. Oh, I'd go with the manual door too, Gav. With a grain chute Is the drawbar a tad long perhaps? Just an observation
Lord Ferguson
I must admit the drawbar does look and nats c0ck too long to me Gavvers... but I wasn't as brave as Tris My dumper is an 8.5t so I guess it's pretty much the scow ended version of this one then mate. Wheels and tyres... bang on in that case
Gav836
I wasn't sure about the drawbar so welcome the feedback, I have now shortened it by 10mm and it does look much better, will get a picture later on

jdc
Tidy, Gav Did Bailey do a mechanical rear door? That would be about that era.
Gav836
Thanks John. It was the mechanical up and over door that I was thinking of but never seen a Bailey with one fitted so unsure of that one \ would certainly be more fitting for a trailer local to this area
Lord Ferguson
I've not seen one like that either Gav... plenty of Bunnings like it though
