What machinery did you photograph today?

We are in peak silly season in these parts,  Maize, Potatoe's, onions &  sugarbeet all being harvested locally and cultivation's/drilling in full swing now. Tractor spotter's heaven😄

I caught up  with Pretoria Energy's brand new Claas 990 in an appalling field of late sown maize. There must have been 15 trailers parked in the field waiting their turn in the sparse crop. Mostly Irish boys with JD/ Massey/NH tractors and irish trailer brands. Also a couple of P.E own Massey 7719S fleet ferrying adblue and cleaning the road.

Field Estates farm over 5000 acres locally with a large potato acreage, they own several JDs a pair of Fendts and a few very old Ford 7840s. They also hire in some JDs for peak times and for the past two season's they contract in three Irish tractors & operators from Gamble Brothers! This year they have a nice 7720S plus two lovely 7719S tractors.

I took these pictures of G.Shropshires new JD 9900i and one of their large fleet of JD tractors.

Got some even better pictures of them today which need uploading. I got to speak with the main man's son who is taking over the reign's. Sadly he plan's to move all their kit over to John Deere due to JDs technological/data superiority across the full range of machines. Unfortunately for Fendt they don't have access to the US military's GPS system (unlike JD) and Mr Shropshire wasn't impressed after using trimble set ups for the past 10 or more years.  I like to see MFs and NHs working on his estate even though they are 95% hired in, but they may be gone in years to come as JD get more and more competitive due to scale and fewer dealers who place mega orders and get big discounts. He also has just bought an X9 combine as well, that's the 13th on my patch since 2020!!!!!!!!!!!! And its replacing an 8 year old Claas Lex 780 that hasn't had a spanner put on it either.  How deflating for Claas, they weren't even asked to quote by the sounds of things.

My upgraded Lumix camera takes much better pictures than the old one, and its the colour red that benefits most. In the past my MF pictures looked more like a shade of tomato soup rather than red☹️.......but not anymore.

I took these photo's of a local MF exclusive farm lifting potato's right next to a river embankment, hence the high angle of the shots. They had recently bought three brand new red Bailey trailers to go behind their tractor fleet which comprises modern 7726,7719,7718S machines plus older working classics such as the original 3120 in the pictures🥰

Anyone know what is a typical tonnage for an acre of Marris Pipers?  10 or 20 tons per acre??

I know the price is going up because the local lads are buying more new tractors.

Garretts bought a new JD 7R330 last year plus a surprising black Deutz Fahr 7250.

Well this summer they added another DF a 8280 machine and whilst photographing on spuds yesterday they rolled up in another new 73 plate DF, a Java green 7250!! That makes for three Deutz and three Deeres in their yard. And the Deutz dealer is 40 miles away!!!!!  They wanted faster tractors as they haul upto 25 miles away from base and the DFs are 60kph and p*ss over their JD 6155Rs which only do 50kph.

Contracting firm arrived and made very light work of some maize a couple of miles up the lane.  2 JD choppers, a 9800 and a 9900 plus at least 12 tractors and trailers plus another JD that looked like it would be on clamp duty and another with a tool trailer?  A Loadall went up in the midst of all that but I’m not sure if it was part of the gang.
the tractors included 2 New Holland, 3 Fendt (inc a 728) one Fastrac and the rest were Deeres including 3 6R 250s.  I attempted to go and have a look with the camera chickened out, so unfortunately all I got was this phone photo of the 2 choppers as they were leaving

Heres a few CASE tractors for Smithy. The local Velcourt farm were working 3 fields side by side. Lifting beet in one with a mighty Grimme Rexor, huge machine and really quick as well, plus a new Puma 240 on the cart.

Next field there were two more new 240 Puma's on spud lifting, with yet another Puma 240 on the drill in the background. And in the last field following the spud boys was a new CASE Rowtrac 380 with a big HeVa cultivator.

Been out and about again, so much smart kit around the Fens😎

I forgot to post the new CASE Rowtrac 380 pic I took when I pictured the four 240 Puma's. All Velcourt kit.  Such a shame that JDs 8RX has decimated CASE's Rowtrac market☹️

Next up was Pretoria Energy with their broken down Jag 990 and a fleet of idle trailers (about 20 at the final count)  And then their newer 990 arrived just before it lashed it down with rain yet again🙄...........must have been a very expensive day with very little work achieved. And they still haven't returned to finish off the last 20/30 acres at Southery which is now falling over dead.

Caught up with HC Beale and one of their two JAG 970's working locally.  Got a nice fleet of tractors, their own 6R.185s & hired in 155s plus a new Fendt 936. I already photographed the MFs & Valtra's their contractors are using. Can't beat maize for entertainment, so many tractors & trailers roaring around🙃

Along with Beale's maize run the local farmer Wortley's were lifting beet with a big Holmer harvester which was easily keeping a pair of NH T7.270's and bailey trailers very busy. I had forgotten how quick modern day beet machines were!!

Last pictures of this years maize were few and far between, thats because H C Beales JD 6R.185s kept getting stuck!  They were running three of them with the specialist Dezeure trailers which raise up and then eject their load into a waiting wagon, providing the trailer isn't stuck in the middle of the field that is🙄.......to be fair the going was incredibly soft but the crop had to come off.
