Spalding Model Tractor Show - 2nd October

Must say I enjoyed todays show more than usual because it wasnt very busy and I hate crowds >:(;D  When the outside queue started moving at 10 it only stretched back half as far as the one in the spring which I guess is understandable given the UKs awful economy at present :'(

Nevermind I cheered myself up immediately by buying a pair of  show model McMacs which are rather good with there Hawkhire decals.  These are being modified from sikus rubbish front linkage to sets of front weights I bought from one of the convo specialists :)  and by Tuesday theyll be joining my muck spreader fleet (on hire of course) for the rest of the autumn ;)

poped in for a few hours,.. mainly to rip the wee out of bazza ;D , and drop a few tractors off, and errm pick some nice fendts  up for the display case.

Had to say seemed very quiet, but I think that could mainly be due to the stunning weather, I did say to sara  when I saw the wether forcast for this week " show will be slow". after 2hours in the small hall I was ready for the drive home with the aircon on as it was a bit sweaty betty,

was nice to have the time to walk round this time and meet a few people with some very handy bits and bobs

Roll on april, and some real naff wet weather, to bring the punters in as by then I should have enough stuff done to have a stand again

Think this show should be in november, wet cold, most of the harvsting and drilling done ;)  and the right side of xmas

EDIT: oh and one bit of a moan £4.80 for three coffee's, in plastic cups!!!! holy smoke

Just got back in from a brilliant day at Spalding. Must apologise immediatley for the lack of photographs on my part too, think I took about half a dozen total during the day. Great to meet up with many familiar faces aswell as many I hadn't met up with before until today with to have a proper chat with. My parents too seemed to really enjoy themselves spending the morning at the show before heading to Springfields for the afternoon......whilst I spent most of the day filling the back seats of their car with boxes. Lots of boxes. :)

what did you get then david?

Just sorting through them now Paul, i'll list them all fully in the topic Mark set up. ;)

Spent most of my pennies on conversions and limited edition tractors, mainly classic era machines. Which is the direction i'd now like the majority of my collection to head. :)

Ended up coming home with several PDC and DBP models and a number of other gems i'm very proud to now have residing my collection.:)

I'll post some pictures of that shortly. Plenty of positive feedback on it though which was great.

I think the weather certainly spoilt it yesteday to be honest. For those in the small hall, it must have been really uncomfortable. Attendance was clearly down but we were quite busy for most of the day and met plenty more new faces too. :) Thank you Mark, Mike and Sharon for the help by the way :) We also had a great reponse to the Air Ambulance model tractor raffle (more details of that soon!)

I guess 9 times out of 10, the weather will not be like it was yesterday! A shame but roll on April!

Great to see everyone again and there were plenty of new faces as well :)

We were sad about the pub though... food has really gone down hill since the new owernship :'(  However, the normal high jinks, merriment and listening to Barry and Niels taken the proverbial out of each other was as entertaining as ever. Nice to meet Barry's lady (poor woman... ::);D ;D ) and his new slave, Martin. Really missed Stevie (and his rude text messages - I know... you don't believe me... quiet and unassuming is how I'd have described him too... now I know better! I thought it was Barry all along  ::);D ).

Much thanks to Colin for making us so welcome :)

As promised a few pictures of the show, these were taken before the doors opened as I got a bit preoccupied on the FTF stall after that

First time I have seen a major tractor dealer represented, I believe a few model sellers were a little alarmed as they could possibly undercut their prices

I am sure that Andy will be along with some further details but FTF/Model Farmer, in conjunction with 1/32 Farming Models, are planning to raffle off a one off conversion of a Wiking John Deere 6930 in the colours of the Great North Air Ambulance.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Air Ambulance and Convo's employers have stated that if we raise £250 then they will match it and add another £250.

Tickets are £1 per strip and will also be available at Toytrac.

The draw itself will take place at the Penrith Show at the Rheged Centre on 20th November.

Hopefully we will also be able to set something up though the forum so that you can buy tickets even if you can't get to one of these shows.
