catkom3
There's hundreds of 3D printers listed on eBay, well, hundreds might be a bit of an exaggeration, more like a couple of dozen. They will become more affordable as time goes on. Strangely enough Tim there is one of those DaVinci printers on e-bay right now from a company in the UK,but it say's,MAY NOT POST TO UK,?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221420226025?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D221420226025%26_rdc%3D1 Regards Joe. powerrabbit
It's rather confusing, the seller seems to be UK registered but is actually in the US. ?
catkom3
Well it's been a few months since I last looked into 3D printing, and things have changed quite a bit there is now this http://www.zeus.aiorobotics.com/#!demo/c1ahu 3D printer / scanner, this machine could have serious implications as it can also Fax scans or designs,if you and a few of your mates had one each there would be no limit as to what you could pass back and forth between you, still quite expensive at the moment, there's one on E-bay dot com for £1.549,but who knows how much they'll cost this time next year, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIO-Zeus-All-in-One-3D-Printer-/151441486022?pt=COMP_Printers&hash=item23429db0c6 Regards Joe. MB Trac
Considering one of these now for making parts. However i dont like the clear plastic material https://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/roland-arm-10-3d-printer.html
Stabliofarmer
Can you not put coloured plastic in? The one at school had two reels that fed into it and we had a number of colours, resin white/cream, red and blue.
MB Trac
No I think it only clear, SLA usually is only one color. If I can convince work to buy one now!!!!!
Tractorman810
I think from what I have read the one colour printers will use any colour of reel you want , it's just one print head , the real expensive ones do two or three heads/ colours
catkom3
I think the colour is irrelevant, the only thing that would matter would be the diameter of the filament,to fit whichever nozzle you were useing,!!,plenty colours to choose from,http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-3D-Printer-filament-ABS-PLA-1-75mm-3-00mm-1KG-various-15-color-for-makerbot-/351015776147?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item51ba2baf93 Regards Joe. MB Trac
The sla machines don't use a reel. They use liquid polymer. For resolution sla is the only solution.
catkom3
The sla machines don't use a reel. They use liquid polymer. For resolution sla is the only solution. Thanks for that,I was under the illusion, all 3D printers used the filament reels, which leave a lot of tiny ridges, you can remove these useing "acetone vapour",but I reckon your right these SLA printers would make a better job, their desktop milling machine looks a very handy tool as well, video here,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RvzdHXL7Gw Regards Joe. MB Trac
for best results CNC is the only way to go. However just cant make very complex parts in one piece. The best 3D printer is the oBjet Connex if you have 60K to spare and alot of cash to keep it running.

Joe, Mr Tractor Tim has some interesting 3D printed bits and pieces on his website but, where are they offered for sale? Can't find prices anywhere, does he trade via someone else? I wonder what a tyre pressure kit or dual wheels will cost, any clues? I have seen his Xerion 4000 tank and that is ridiculously expensive so I got a bit weary..
