Green Fever 2012

SPN

Recommended Posts

As the weather has now turned for the better we can expect the lunatics to be let loose on the back roads of Ireland and the UK with tens of thousands of horsepower hauling grass, terrorising the civilians, and suffering from the dreaded Green Fever.

Pics and stories here please.

I went for a drive today and only spotted one Fendt 716 with a trailed Kuhn mower knocking grass. I drove past three bigger contractors yards but all their kit was sitting idle, although trailers were kitted out with silage sides and mowers were lined up ready to go.

Hopefully I'll have a better result, and some pics, tomorrow.

I have done a bit of wrapping, raking another farm was underway for tomorrows baling and wrapping but I will be at the yard as log deliveries are still going well and a container is arriving with 22 pallets on for other farmers and contractors for me to unload and then load them when they turn up. I saw a couple of trailers from one gang return home to base yesterday and have seen the Cougar on the move. No actual work seen yet thought!

Did you not take any pics of the gear in the yards :-(

No. I Kept moving in the hope of finding some in the wild. The only good photo I missed was a reverse drive 936 with triples, but I plan on getting pics of her in action during the week.

Well seen a few boys out today and it's the first silage I've seen this year first up when I was a work I seen a guy raking up grass with a MF6480 and a krone 50ft rake then I was all most home when I seen my neighbours which I would do the odd day for there JD men he was mowing down with a JD6630 and Kuhn trailed mower.

I'm going to try this year and do a we bit of contacting with the MF375 and the loutis 300 tedding grass and see how thing turn out will call in with the guys next door and see if they want the silage tedded out as its a really dry week wish me luck ha ha!

I saw a brand new Claas chopper broken down 1/2 way through a paddock of maize yesterday. An 8530 Deere had pulled it to the side of the road and it was been wintched up onto a low loader trailer on the road side. That contractor is a big Krone user so who knows next spring there might be a diffrant chopper runing.

My friends with the fleet of New Hollands and Claas 950 Jaguar I follow started last weekend and have completed around 300 acres so far including 190 acres at the agricultural college I used to attend, but there appears to be very little else happening just at the moment around the area I live. I'm hoping to be out chasing several silaging gangs over the course of the next few weeks with my camera.

Boss was talking about doing ours the end of the week, none really dne round us apart from the picture I posted a month or so ago, with this wether quite a few will be going round us

Drop me a message if you get going Patrick ( so long as it's ok with your boss ) i'd love to head over and take some photographs. :)

And on my way home from Tedding I spoted a MF5460 mowing with a Kuhn 280 trailed mower I also have got the job off Tedding that stuff as well if you don't ask you don't get ha ha! but my dad will have to ted that out as I will have to go back to my 9 to 5 job selling cars :( I pulled a sicky today to ted grass so I will have to go in and show my face tomorrow :(

MF6480 with JF FCT950 picking up after the Fendt I saw mowing the other day. I saw three tractors drawing away; JQ 6630 with Redrock 12ton, MXU125 with Dooley 10ton, and a Landini which I didn't get a picture of.

Not great pickings today either.

Old NH 05 series harvester after finishing a field and two 1993 Deutz 6.31s drawing away from it. One trailer is an 18ft Dooley, the other is a 16ft but not sure of the maker.

and last but not least we have walford college at the silage yet again. you can see walford manor in some of the photos and the large woods in the raking photos are the main woods used for the shoots.

and the last few photos show a krone swadro 2000 6 rotor rake on a john deere 7830. this is raking all the ground in preporation for the shropshire show this saturday.

I finally spotted Murphy Brothers at silage. No pics of the 936 and mower, or the JCB loader though.

Looks like John Qs are on the way out and Fendts and Newfies are on the way back.

Spot on Ben, they're based just over a mile away from where I currently live, always enjoy catching up with their fleet of equipment. I've sent you a PM, camera ready and raring to go. ;)

when they came to college i was amazed at how spotless and tidy there kit is, them tm's are to die for ;D

Fantastic fleet, very well cared for. They've just bought a New Holland TS115 Turbo with front linkage and it is spotless like all their other tractors. Seem to recall when I was at Askham Bryan 2002 - 2004 Mark Harper did the grass and Metcalfes chopped their maize.
