ihatepoundland Posted July 19, 2006 Share Posted July 19, 2006 I think because its more mixed here, it works differently, they've only just got the second cut of silage in and my dad has always said that a bit of rain just before harvest is good for the crop..not sure if thats true....last time it got flattened! A rain on a cereal crop before harvest drys the crop out more and brings it in because the rain pushes the out the juice so next few hot days just suck that last bit of juice out of it in no time.It also fills the heads a little bit more if the cereal still has abit of life in it.
