The 2019 Moira Model Show 25th/26th October

Finally found some time to get photos up.

I've wanted to go to Moira for aslong as I've been making dioramas, it was the old Moira forum that first got me into model farming. This year I was finally in a position to be able to make the journey. I set of from Shropshire at 1am on the Friday morning headed for Stranraer and the 8 o'clock boat arriving at the venue for around 11. The Jim Baker stadium makes for an impressive venue, about the size of two sports halls it was well lit and nice and warm, something that I believe the show had been lacking at the old venue. My only complaint would be the parking, which I know the organisers are working on. Exhibitors where parked on a steep grass field, which given it was rather rainy and I have a rear wheel estate meant I was stuck in it on both days! I've got to say that everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly and really couldn't do enough to help, particularly in getting me unstuck from the field.

The quality and size of dioramas was incredible, a scale that I haven't seen at any UK shows. My little 4x2ft diorama was certainly dwarfed amongst the 12-16ft dios that seem common! Anyway, on with the photos, apologise for any repeats, and if any info is wrong or missing let me know and I'll adjust it.

Some snaps of Mark Gillands display, thanks to Mark for the invite over and making space for me.

And a county heavy display next to Mark's who's name alludes me at the moment?

A pleasure to meet Ian at Tab models and to learn about how someone has taken a hobby and made it a full time career.

I didn't manage to get many photos of Ciaran Dunne's shop front but again a big thanks for taking some time to chat about model making, particularly 3D printing and casting.

That's all the photo's I got, some are better than others. A really good weekend, I've never seen a show as busy as this one was at about 8pm on the Friday. Brilliant to put alot of old names to faces and again I can't stress how friendly everyone was. If you're considering a trip there then I'd definitely recommend it, particularly with the new venue with it's light, heat and cafe!

Great to meet you James, and thanks for the photos.

I was leaving at 8pm and the traffic was queued the whole way back down the road. Glad I got there for opening. Even four hours wasn't enough. I could have stayed there another four.

All depends on if that predicted second wave hits..

There's no "if".

The only questions are "when" and "how big"

Sligo went a whole month without a new case, then had 16 in the last week.

I know. But they came in from outside the country. And thats whats going to triger it again. Flights out to Spain for holiday makers and it seems Spain are getting spikes again. See the lunacy on the streets off Dublin last night around Temple Bar.. As you say SPN..its not if but when..Xmas could by a whole different story this year.
