1/32 Scania Single Deck Livestock Truck

Recommended Posts

Not been on the forum much recently, been a hectic few months between model builds and uni work. Just settled down at the farm I'm working at over summer so should have abit more free time to get a good catch up with the forum.

Ive got a couple of builds to share starting with this one. A Scania R470 6x2 Livestock Wagon and Drag with Houghton Parkhouse single deck bodies fitted. Bodies and chassis are scratch built, the cab is just a resprayed Welly, with a RHD conversion.

Customer then decided to add a drag so that was completed in the same way.

Fresh out of the paint shop, this was tricky given I was living in an upstairs flat, resorted to using a big cardboard box on the parking spaces outside luckily the weather was spot on for painting.

Blimey James , thats stunning! Liking the paint scheme. My boss has two Scanias just like that with triple deck houghtons on the back, nice lorrys. I wanted to have a go at building one for a Britains Iveco, when I get round to it:lol:

Thank you for the kind words folks, I was surprised how well received a relatively 'simple' vehicle was.

Just taken a commission for a build I wanted to do when I first saw the real truck shared on Houghtons facebook page. It features the new Platinum style body, previously I have laser cut the grill pattern like in this previous Plowman build, but it isn't really an option this time.

Has anybody got any ideas on something I can use to replicate this slotted grill/vent pattern. Slots are 5x1mm each. My last resort will be to score every slot into a takeaway tin style soft metal sheet but I'm sure there must be something everyday that resembles the pattern. The commission below, you can see why I'm excited!

dont recall seeing anything like that pattern ,even at work with all our kit, but will keep an eye out, as loads of old stuff is being removed and scrapped, and i love a good scavenge just in case i want something. honestly i would say if you have to go making them,  make a wood version first, out of a thin ply, or even a thicker plasticard, then mould it of that, if you get the harder setting resins, you could just resin set them then, saw a vid somewhere on you tube about casting smaller parts, and thats how they manage it, with a harder setting resin, which i didn't know existed

Cheers Joe, I'm secretly hoping there's some random packaging material or something that happens to have the same design to it

Cheers James,I thought these thing were illegal these days,But a metal comb might make a good template,
