Whats on your workbench???

Recommended Posts

I like it alot and use it in most of my builds. Easier to cut than plastic both by hand and with a laser cutter. Nice to shape and sand. And cheap, which when I first started was very important. It does of course have its limitaions. Over time and in a damp environent it will sag and getting a good paint finish can be difficult.

That's a beauty of a 5000 Sean ,, should try a 7000 using the same reworking . Real class work ..

I have the wheels for it , but have another version I want to try when I have time. Can't get in the shed right now as its full of Timber for the house , I can see all the stuff sat there waiting

The wheels and lift rams are held on by 2 screws so can be taken off the main frame. Then I cut out the middle bit of plastic and altered the rear bit so you can push it further up the main frame so the tines touch the ground when the wheels are raised. Tip the rear screw will need to be put back in as it hold centre frame to the body.

handy to know Mark, thanks for the info

Not a bad trailer Pete, as it's a toy rather than the higher spec trailers from the likes of UH. it's good and rather than 16 ton + trailer it's nice to see a 12 tonner done for a change. There's room for improvement but that could be said for any model.

As you say toy not model.. definitely agree it's nice seeing smaller trailers. I'd seen on fb earlier someone has altered the axle to pull wheels closer.

Tinkering around with the Britains Kuhn Performer  5000 as Britains done a poor job of it and had the back end sticking up in the air even eith the wheels raised for working. So now have it looking a lot better for working the ground

Don't look a bad piece of kit, assuming a modern style of simba solo?

My attempt at changing the UH hedge cutter to left hand side. Hopefully end up as a bomford kestrel. Please excuse my soldering, it looks like bird has shat on it. I'll have to get the needle files on it.

Thanks Paul. My first attempt at working with brass was a disaster, and I'm not convinced that this will turn out much better, but if you don't have a go you won't know.

Yours was one of the ones that convinced me to have a go.
