  5. never saw a contractor in Ireland with anything other then a loading shovel on the pit except for 1 mf 50hx on a local farm who do their own
  6. i put it down to dairy and cattle farmers over there (well in the areas i was in anyway) seem to do a good bit of cultivations too for animal feed in the form of crops like turnips and kale etc i guess the bigger machinery is better in this regard and it isnt worth them buying smaller tractors for the sake of two months work as you say. just my opinion
  7. is the kubota the contractors tractor? does he do much draft work with it. a farmer we worked for in nz had one and swore by it. the look horrible though
  8. See this site Alan.....It's the company's website..... http://www.eastcoastviners.co.uk/
  9. thats a brilliant sky Sean weather is gone pure strange though, disasterous summer, lovely autumn more then likely the winter will be nicer then the summer. incidently cos of the good weather im seeing a fair bit of silage for the time of year, bales to be exact still being cut. last weekend alone i spotted 5 seperate fields spread out over a 10 mile radius.
  10. Yeah i know what you mean alan, I live here and cant figure it out those trailers are 16 tonners tho, What Hp do you need for a 16 toner then?
  11. what i dont understand from silaging in nz is they have huge tractors pulling medium to small sized trailers over here in Kerry anyway weve just as hilly ground, way wetter conditions normally and much smaller tractors pulling bigger trailers without trouble most of the time. nice pics though

ya from a distance they look pretty much the same, but fronts and the backdoors are different, so is underneath where the automatic doors work and the side panels are pretty different too. does anyone know if the red kane trailers are the same shade as the herrons though

  17. the farm i worked on harvested beans with a combine. not sure if they were the same kind of "beans" but if i remember right i think they were going to be used for animal feed or something what would the beans these machines are harvesting be used for? and what about the beans you eat? are they harvested like this?

id much rather be drawing silage or any trailer work for that matter with a conventionaly geared tractor then them variable tranmission ones. ordinary gears would be alot easier in my opinion
  22. They're actually not looking too bad at the minute.....?26,000 for a 120 HP tractor.....
  23. ive been wheeling out ruble with a wheelbarrow again today. over the last few weeks id say ive brought out almost 100 tonne. even had to get the loading shovel from work yesterday to pile it into a heap cos it was taking up so much space and covering half the yard. pity we never heard of mini diggers and dumpers down in kerry yet
  24. I take it so they are still made from wood? they were a mighty trailer for their time. i remember in the days of the trailed harvester the lees were made with wooden lats on the side, i.e. lat - space - lat etc then when the first self propelled harvester came around here (a claas 695) she was blowing the grass out with such force that half it was going straight through the lats and lost. so they had to stop everything in the first week and alter all the trailers. that was the start of the solid trailers i soppouse. i also saw a lee a good while ago with timber solid sides. the driver went too close to some trees and they ended up pulling nearly one whole side clean off the trailer. prob wouldnt have happened with steel. if they are still made with wood its a wonder they havent changed to steel
