WHAT MADE YOU JOIN FARM TOY FORUM

BC

Recommended Posts

Well I sure there have been similar topics in the past but well looking back I joined on the 7th November 2006 so I'm now in my 4th year on here. I was No 839 to join and see we are 2,388 now with Josh

What I was wondering is what made you join and what do like about the forum ???

Alright I'll start

At first on my search for older Britain's models I found the links section on farmmodels website. From there I found the link to Dan Goodhead's website. I ended up buying some models from Dan ( Goodhead) on here and in the email flow he asked me if I had heard of Farm Toy Forum. Well I had not but the rest is now history and I'm very pleased I found it.

What do I like about it ???

Well the banter is good but it's the thought sharing on here which I really appreciate.

Right next up :)

I wanted to find out about the older models that I had and what was now available so I was "googling"  for Toy tractors. I came up with this site as a single page that said "site under construction" and saved it to my favourites,  I then completely forgot about it for over a year :-\ :-\ concentrating on the "real" farming sites BFF and FWi.

When I finally got back to the link it was already a thriving community and I like to think I have found some kindred spirits and friends on here, Mrs R still calls it my addiction and tractor porn ;D ;D ;D ;D

My other half found it when she was trying to understand my love (she calls it obsession) with model (she calls it toy) tractors. My collecting at the moment is on hold while we pay for our wedding, so it's good to enjoy other peoples collection through FTF!!!

I read an article in Classic Tractor from August '09 I think on Britains hay making implements, thought no more of it, re read it at Christmas for some reason and googled for the various implements, (I used to carpet farm as a boy) and eBayed for them too, my collection came from eBay and I found this  place on google. I like  everything, and everyone :) I feel right at home.

I seem to recall finding Farm Toys Forum via a search engine back in 2006, around the time when my collecting habits were beginning to grow again after years of carpet farming as a youngster. Although I registered in late December '06 and spent most of my time lurking in the conversion and scratchbuild threads of the forum, drooling at the master craftsmanship on display, that's all I did, lurk.

I didn't pluck up the courage to post until January of last year, but i'm very glad I did and haven't looked back since, my spare time now wouldn't be the same without F.T.F and all of it's colourful members to share thoughts, photographs and opinions with.

Top work Andy.

I honestly can't remember how I came across the Forum but since being a member have found it very informative and interesting and a valuable resource into farm model collecting in general apart from meeting with a lot of new real and 'virtual' freinds'. My serious interest in collecting farm related models started around 6 years ago when I got heavily into it but it's always been there but I think that FTF is the reason that my house is now overflowing.

i found FTF through a link on a search, joined in January 2006.I joined to keep to keep in touch with whats happening in the model world, but the other topics make it more appealing covering such a variety of subjects.

Its great to know there are other nutters/people who share the same interests.

I joined to check out exactly what sort of people my son was mixing with!!

Seriously, after I went to Spalding in April 2008, when Cerin won the raffle and Mandy came all the way to Cornwall to deliver one of Graham's buildings ... I was so impressed. Everyone was so kind and informative to my son.

However, I did not think it would become part of my life, as it has.

It's a good place to spend time. I like the worldwide community aspect and, as Bill says, the thought sharing. I like the way everyone's opinions are valued. And I have learned so much and laughed so much!

Long may it last - thanks Andy :)
