I must admit i've not seen another yellow one in person before, i know they're scarce but so is the 154 in general, although a fair few in my area. Hopefully it'll be a talking point at future events with its quirks and features.

I think the 154 Narrow is the rarest of the 154's Zac, but like you say the 154 is a lot less common than the grey fergy which in essence is like for like although more the 154's predecessor, the 9/16 or 4/25 BMC Nuffy Mini's :)

If anyones in the area this weekend. I will be taking the 7710 and the ED-40 up to The Abbey Hill Steam Rally in Yeovil, the challenger was meant to go but still not running due to the rotor arm on distributor cab shorting out so the ED-40 is coming instead. Alternatively the 7710 will be up at The Big Ford Working Day on Monday! Come and say hello if you see me :)

It was a bit of a funny weekend really. Both tractors performed effortlessly at Abbey Hill and had a Fantastic 3 days up there. Even got snapped in the ring! It was all going well until 300 yards from Dave Allen Transport's yard. I went up a hill with the 77 and Bomford Superflow on behind. Then lost all drive near top of the hill. Managed to limp it into his yard and onto the lorry but the monday morning it wouldn't drive itself off the lorry and had to be towed off using a 7910 :( The backend had dumped all of its oil out somewhere as it was bone dry. It now still wont drive and had to be pushed back on, so it did make it to Wiltshire, but it stayed hidden around the back of the farm and not on show. The 5 mile tow home lead to the right hand brake failing as well as the power steering becoming weak before going.. And to top it all off we overtook it on Monday on the A303 to find the right hand side had a flat tyre.. Just what i needed on a bank holiday. Luckily a mobile tyre fitter was on site and got me back on all 4 and didn't even charge the callout fee for bank holidays! Proper... Now the expensive bit to come with a suspected sheared input shaft and knackered clutch as well as requiring 2 new back tyres its all starting to add up. Although it will be better to have a fully working tractor that is going to last me a long while.. These things happen 2.thumb.jpg.d3030c20684a6d4555ca7cf1139da636.jpg59922196_10156732097152182_7265839923180077056_o.thumb.jpg.9ef36bcd3fe13c6f50fce472d58138ed.jpg59768305_10156732099832182_6058231635080380416_o.thumb.jpg.869ffc01a64bc243ef0969fd93cb239c.jpg59626946_1061561497387529_6568876042251927552_o.thumb.jpg.44c776d0323604d6dcc41bd419a050e4.jpg59936484_1061561217387557_7138351515579711488_o.thumb.jpg.7992bad0dfc9c315c7da0d1ebd67154e.jpg

That's turned into an expensive weekend there Zac, but you only find faults with using, if it was just sat in the shed all year round you'd have never have known, but like you say go through her now and do a proper job then you'll know you can walk away from her, and she's good for anything then, it's annoying doing a job twice if you didnt go far enough the first time.... i learnt that one by experience ;) good luck with the re-build and repairs bud ;)

Sad to hear all that Zac, the joys of owning anything on wheels!:( The sheared input shaft I believe is a common problem on older Fords, especially ones that have done a lot of shaft work.....I had one go whilst power harrowing with the 7810 a couple of years ago, the chap who's owns it had been working her all morning, I jumped on to give him a spell and managed literally 100 yards up the field and it gave out.... As Paul said, fix it right the first time and you can forget about her.

Not what you wanted Zac but such things happen with older kit, not that new gear is any more reliable, at least you don't need a whizz kid with a laptop at £70/hr to tell you what's wrong with it. . The hub stripped on my TW a couple of years ago, as others have said do the job right and it'll last. Have a good look around while you are in there, mine got a clutch, all new seals in the DP, replaced the Durotor pump and rebuilt the PTO brake as well as a few other bits and pieces while she was split. Your clutch and steering shouldn't be related to the input shaft though, seems strange they all went together.

Cheers all

Been so busy at silage haven't been on much. We had a look on Friday and the power steering is working just it was getting weak whilst idling, could be on the way out but still fully functioning just needs a bit of revs to get the pressure back up. The hydraulics are also working which means the input shaft potentially is alright as the pump is driven from that side i believe. Which could put it down to either clutch plate or the clutch pack. Will have to get it split and find out, as @mb86 has said i'll do all necessary work whilst in there for the sake of £200 may aswell put a new clutch in. I've got a ballpark figure to go by the recent sales of these in similar condition so i've a bit of money to play with without losing out completely. Considering the one at Rodney Cowle's sale made £11800 inc all vat and commission. I didn't pay anywhere near that.

Productive day yesterday for once. Got the proper wheels back on the 154 and the Finger bar mower ready for the hay, surpringly it was all free moving and only took a bit of grease and a new pto to be working! Not bad for being hedgerow for 10 years. Also managed to clear away the brambles behind my shed to make a little compound to park machinery as it was dumped everywhere at present. Just need some fencing to enclose it and some hardcore.

Nice addition there Zac :) looks tidy enough cosmetically and all it's glass in place, i'd say thats a better buy than the 804 you sent me photo's of a while back. They do sound well does a 4/98 turbo, even at low revs they give a little whistle, hope she a good one for you and you enjoy the baling...... That'll be yet another bay going on the tractor shed build then :D
