My 81 yr old grandmother having a fall outside and cutting her forehead open and under her eye open when she hit the coal bunker. She's now being taken to hospital by ambulance after being found by my uncle just after it happened.

Maybe now the authorites will take note and find her a warden controlled bungalow as this wouldn't have happened then, its the 3rd fall in 18 months >:(

Cheers mate, she's talking ok and didn't knock herself out which is one thing but just has sky high blood pressure

It's not the council round here, its the housing authorites which look after that, she's currently in 2 bedroom house with very steep stairs, its taken a lot of persuasion by us to get her to agree to a bungalow but they won't let her have a 2 bed one despite my aunt coming to stay with her regularly to keep an eye on her, they say she only qualifies for a one bedroom one :-\

not good new Gav, hope she recovers soon mate

Cheers Mark

Well we have Nan here at the minute, she has 13 stitches on her forehead and a bad cut on the bridge of her nose, she looks quite bad and swollen but is quite high spirited despite the injuries

That's awful Gav... hope she get's better soon darling. The council in Cornwall gave my ex mum-in-law a thing to wear around her neck so she could call someone if needed - she lived in her own home not warden controlled - might be worth asking about :-\

Thanks Mandy

I haven't seen her today but Mum says the whole left side of Nans face is swollen and she can't open her left eye. The problem with her house is the stairs are so small and steep ( i have to go up them with my feet sideways :o ) that it just isn't safe, so far she hasn't fallen down them luckily. She tripped over a bit of stick outside and landed on the concrete path full force :-\

Think you will find it is called "Lifeline".  Special telephone is loaned and the bit hanging round the neck is a radio button that when pushed calls the helpline.  They can pinpont the wearers position within 200 metres of the phone inside or outside the house.  They can then call a keyholder to render assistance.  My 84-year old aunt has one and it works.  My mother also had one and they had me walking right round the garden to check it was working.  My garden is about 1/2 acre and it worked everywhere.

I've just ordered my mother in law one of those things to hang around her neck... although I may replace the string for barbed wire... and remove the batteries  :D :D ;D

I always remember the quote on the sleeve of The Who album Quadrophenia, "Nothing in this album is meant to resemble any person either living or dead, especially our Mums and Dads who are all very nice and live in bungalows that we bought for them in the Outer Hebrides"

;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Will be a bit quiet for a little while. Uncertain times.

Ah mate.

Not good to hear. Went through the same a while back.

Joking apart, you couldn't be in a better crowd, (if that makes sense?)
