Cracking work John , that magic scalpel of yours looks to have been putting a few hours in lately -
A couple more additions this week, a pair of Marshall A3 sized posters and a 1984 Marshall wallplanner, there could be every chance that when the first owner of my own 804 (first registered December 1983) that he got one of these wall planners for the office wall...... as they came rolled in a tube you'll have to excuse the the scaledown's at the corners holding them open

Nice collection building there Zac when's the big shed getting built then and increase the collection abit more?? There was a 10/60 down your way with a Leyland engine in it that was tempting to have a look at but theres a 384 Leyland appeared local that might be worth a viewing.....

The pile is lessening, theres about 50 sleepers so far had 3 coats to darken them Iain once they dipped it been having enough drying space. in hindsight, a few wire racks would have been handy and then set them up to do them in larger batches than just a bay at a time.... -

Whats on your workbench???
Valley Axe Man replied to MODELFARMER's topic in Other Conversions & Scratch Builds
Looking good Martin it doesn't seem that long ago that you showed me the loader brochure, your making good progress, and the trailer is looking good too, that was only a pre christmas measure up of the scammell... the step neck looks the easier way than the rolled plate beams used in scammell's design, must have been busy times in the workshop -
Happy New Year
Valley Axe Man replied to robl12's topic in General Discussion / Off topic discussion & Everything Else
Happy New Year to one and all, may it be a happy and healthy one all round No one really knows what the next 12 months will bring but hey ho what will be will be.... All the best from Lancashire -
That's a common problem with these and the later 4/98 engines Smithy, some folk get around it by gluing the gasket to the rocker box with a small bead of instant gasket, and then after cleaning the mating surface on the head they apply another thin bead on the underside of the gasket so once the pair are married back together it's "glued" to both surfaces and it stops it from rolling like shown in your photo i had the same issue with the one on my 804, but since i done it that way the jobs been a bobber

Nice finds John, you seem to keep finding different versions to add to the collection

Some good photo's Justin thanks for sharing them, that's a novel way for a display case for the models.... mmm i wonder how many 16th's i could get under a Leyland bonnet -
Nothing wrong with that Smithy, keep a bit and sell a bit all goes to put the food on the table, Cheers a lot of the muck came off with a good wash before i put in in the shed to make a start on her. but some bits are still an oily mess that i couldn't get the pressure washer to. Aye the lights are good in the shed too, bit drafty but not a bad place to spend a few hours with the radio on

Good to see your making a bit of progress with your mate Eric's waterpump Smithy, looks like it'll be a warm start to the New Year in your house with that trailer load of firewood that you've got split, i got a couple of hours on my 802 yesterday so nearer to getting the crank seal in, just the coupling for the hydraulic pump and the bottom pulley to pull off and then can swap the seals. couple of other little bits to do on rebuild too but nowt that can't be sorted

Was lucky enough to have a look at this beast back in the Autumn with two like minded tractor men, It's for sale but won't be everyone's bag, but be worth finding a good home for.... a Rare IMT engineered Nuffield 126, believed to be one of only 6, powered by a 6 pot Perkins, has trailer airbraking fitted and ran well with little smoke when we got it out of the shed, it would be an ideal lugging tractor, having plenty of weight and a full rack to go up front, but not a rocket on the road. Something different and rare. Rory did an article on them in Classic a few years ago

Don't worry about the pies Smithy i've broad shoulders and been called alot worse ... it's the amount of sprouts i shovelled in that should be worrying... i'm doing my bit today for methane production -

Another little addition to the fleet, care of the fat fella in the red suit, from me to me via my mum another RJN Leyland, a 272 Synchro 4wd, really should be an export spec 472 but Brian awaiting the updated decals and in a way part of the collection too a really nice bit of artwork that my gave me as a gift, an image of my full sized 804...- 733 replies
