  1. Some nice lookin' Fiats there. Makes a change. Does anyone know where the tyres on the Fiat G 240 are from originally?
  2. Bill, could you give us an indication of what makes are off-limits? JD and FNH are in obviously, but what other makes are available to us?
  3. Just got one of these, what a really good model! The slurry injector beats the pants off the britains Samson tanker but then, the Samson has the loading arm. Anyhoo, I'm really impressed. Best fiver I spent in a long time.
  4. I'll try to get you a pic. of the forestry tractor j.dmad, I've got a few to take in the near(ish) future so watch this space...
  5. This will be (very) old news to some of you but these models are new to me, so here's a concise opinion of a shipment of not-so-new Britains models I recieved. Simba Solo cultivator: Very nice indeed. Was almost looking for a sand box. Keenan feeder wagon: Super toy with the robust drive system the rotaspreader should have had. Valmet 115 forest Tractor: Not bad, pity it pivots up and down as well as side to side. Samson manure spreader: A bit basic but probably a good toy. Like the beater drive. Bauer slurry tanker: Great model, love the tires, not so much the dribble bar. Fendt 615 LSA on flotations: pretty good, not very realistic tires but looks good on the Bauer slurry tanker. I have to say that my main impression on all these models was what a *%&#@!* they were to get out of the boxes. I HATE THOSE WIRES!! Why can't Britains do all their models in the packaging system like the Samson manure spreader? Simple, safe and easy to put back into the box if need be. This bunch get me very nearly up to date on what I want to have in my Britains collection, Now I'll concentrate on selected new Britains items, selected Scaledown kits, National Farm Toy Show 1/32 four wheel drives, Toy Farmer specials (like the Big Bud and Big Roy), 1/32 Ertl precisions and every UH model I can possibly afford.
  6. I agree with you fhl, I have been thinking the same thing on this side of the pond for a while too. I notice that the focus has switched a bit here from 1/16 scale to 1/64 scale and that has helped to de-value some models. Some collect over here as an investment and others speculate, I don't suppose these guys have much connection to the profession of farming and will get out if they see their investment decreasing in value. There seems to be quite a few new collectors here who collect to keep a connection to the farm, either the farm they or their parents sold or to remember visits to a grandparents' farm. Y' know, get a model of grandpa's tractor, then get a model of the neighbour's tractor, then you're off and running. I don't think Bill Walters needs to worry but I don't know about the guys paying big money for old models, I can only see the "hardcore" collector numbers shrinking. That's why, personally, I don't kid myself that my collection will be worth anything much when it's time to liquidate it. \ Good topic.
  7. That's a good lookin' tractor Fendt Power. Nice long wheelbase, I'll bet she's a smooth ride, just like the old 6 cylinder DX Deutz tractors are.
  8. Welcome to the forum 1972farming. Nice way to start out.
  9. Flying start IHP. Looking forward to the next stage of completion.
  10. Good thinkin' Fendt Power, do you have Scottish relatives?
  11. I know places where that would sink so fast, the local council would be taxing it as a building in twenty minutes.
  12. FB, the old round bales won't fit in the 590 baler. I personally don't think the Britains JD self propelled forage harvester is detailed enough for me to part with the dosh to get it.
  13. Good use of those tyres IHP. It looks a lot better without the front 3PT hitch, right enough. Gotta keep the front 3PT on mine though, I have the Claas triple mower on it.
  14. Thanks for the info. I fancy getting that book, is it good? Good pictures?
  15. It doesn't matter how good UH's model is, that's a really good conversion. Well worth the dosh and this is comin' from someone who doesn't normally buy conversions.
  16. Nigel, in your picture at the top of the thread it sure looks like the numbers on the side of the tractor say "585" but in the IH literature I have, it says four wheel drive wasn't available for the 585. My memory isn't that good but i remember that picture from sales brochures of yore and I always thought it was an 885. Do you have any personal experience of the 585? I really wanted Dad to buy a 785 when it was tractor buying time but we had already bought a bulk milk tank from our IH dealer and he wanted to spread business around so we ended up with a Massey Ferguson 675 instead. It was a nice enough tractor.
  17. Aye, ye want tae get in an' sit doon for the day, no' have tae get oot too much.
  18. Has anyone on this forum ever talked to someone from Universal Hobbies or even had a reply to an email? It's kinda like praying, you send your message and have faith that it will be answered.
