great build on the bale grab, intresting to see the britains telehandler holds it up nicely to, i know its all plasti strut or similar, but the rams used to be terrible for holding any weight up.

Thanks. Yes, the boom holds the weight easily. The grab is mainly made of plastruct, which means its fairly light weight. I would just like a better maximum tilt angle on the telehandler, but for a Britains its great

Time for an update. I can't recall working on the layout as much as I have recently

My collection of conversions and self builds is growing quickly with a McConnel hedge cutter, New Holland FX 375 and front press well under construction among other things, and I've just bought a Britains Samson muck spreader to use as a base model for a Bunning Lowlander since we're no longer getting the Scalefarmer one - if that goes well I'll build a second Bunning for the fleet

The layout itself is also undergoing a major push to get finished, with the three 2 by 6 board sections painted and based with small ballast to give it a texture, a second silage clamp, a workshop, and three new sheds to store machinery, which I'll photo when built. If anyones followed this thread I've been planning this layout for a little over a year, so completing the board sections is well overdue. Also you may remember that I have no permanent display area, so the layout needs to be able to pack away easily. I've bought some large 80 litre storage boxes to act as 'legs' for the board sections which are also handy for storing models and tools. Time will tell if I've built the layout well enough to withstand storage

I wanted a flatbed trailer for the fleet but wasn't so keen on the current model offerings. With that I took a trip to Sussex Tractors (or Haynes as it now is) for some ideas and decided to build a Warwick 25 ft bale trailer with sprung drawbar, which I think is pretty close to the original:

It was also the first time I got to use my Dremel cutting tool on a model 8)

The front and rear ladders are identical and sit at the same height just the photos make the rear look slightly taller.

To allow bales to fit well I've built the rear ladder to be removable too like its real counterpart:

Update part 2

I have also spent some time finishing off more detailing on the telehandler including additional warning stickers, painting the front axle black like the real machine, and adding a rear pick up hitch. Pictured here leaving the LAB Works yard with my scratch built Browns bale grab:

About time I updated this

I've not been very active here or with the layout since early this year, but the fleets seen a few models come and go since the last update.

I bought a MarGe T7.315, UH T6.175, Wiking Lemken trailed sprayer, Ros Joskin slurry tanker, 2x Britains NC muck spreaders, a Kane Classic silage trailer, and a few other New Holland and Case tractors... I think that's about it other than lots of parts for conversions / builds...

Here's a few photos from when the layout was last out

IMG_20170217_153307.thumb.jpg.31fef9c738b45ea9c7236d10f1a5a630.jpgIMG_20170224_083637.thumb.jpg.61d3a9cf34ecc9dd8f637d6e331554e1.jpg

Although its been fun expanding the fleet, I've decided to tweek it a bit so that most of the tractors are of small to medium size. As a result the following have been removed:

T7.315, T7.270, T7.220, T6.175, one of two T6.180,  and the Joskin slurry tanker.

In there place I've added a: TM 150, MX 150, T6080, and a new Case Maxxum 154. I have always liked Case tractors and they seem to be creeping into the fleet..

OK so the T6080 was a T7.210 flag edition which I resprayed and added a few decals. Took about 30 minutes to do. Seen here at various stages

I've also done some work on the retired T7.220 by adding a front linkage and other details

I have a work in progress FX 375 forager which will join the fleet as a back up / team B option to the Krone forager

I knew I wouldn't be totally happy with the Kane Classic trailer, having held one at Toytrac last year. I like the model, just wanted more detail. So I started to cut it up and add real wire mesh to the front and back door sections, changed the trailer stand, added pipes etc. I think it looks much better for a simple fix up

Although I prefer my models to look clean, I also had a go at dirtying up one of my NC spreaders, and think its improved the base model + added pto and piping guard (pipes to be added), decals etc

Sorry for the late reply Paul. I used a Britains twin axle flatbed trailer as a base model, which I heavily modified on the front and rear ends - until it's almost unrecognisable, as well as detailing added to the sides/undersides. I added a plastruct sheet surface on top to give it the clean flat finish. Scratch built the front and rear ladders. Used a Britains Kane grain trailer for the wheels and stole the springs off it for the scratch built drawbar suspension to match the real Warwick design. I also used part of the Kane drawbar since it was simple to modify to fit the Warwick. So in other words two donor models and lots (!) of handmade parts. Enjoyable build though

Hi. I haven't posted on the forum much recently and not really kept the layout going.

I've had a tough 2017 and a difficult start to 2018… which has resulted in moving house with less storage space

As a result, I've made the decision to sell my collection shortly.

In addition to the stuff pictured in this thread, there is a lot more models I haven't photoed which I'll list up in the for sale part of this forum soon. I'll likely sell stuff in phases because theres so much. If anyone is interested in something in particular, please respond or pm me with offers.

Thanks all
