Well I just found out that former Collings Brothers Managing Director Ray Runciman has sadly, recently died.  He retired a few years ago now and was known for being the driving force behind the Cambridgeshire CASE dealer.  I met Ray back in 1992 and tried to sell him some 2 way radios but alas he decided against them and went for mobile phones instead. I chatted with him on a few different occasions at the dealership over subsequent years about tractors and combines and I remember I bought a Ertl CASE Steiger 450 model with triple tyres which he had personally ordered from CASE for me.  The company has put up a classic picture of a large fleet deal he and his team secured back in 1992 again, which I remember him talking to me about.  3 lovely AF 1680s with 20 ft heads, 4 of the first Maxxum 5150s,  3 Magnum 7240s (incl 2 x spec. editions) plus three 7210s.

I suspect Goodie knew Ray very well and probably Smithy and others too, may he rest in peace.

I hope Collings Bros don't mind me posting the classic pictures below,  stunning time capsules for sure.

Last Thursday was dry and bright to start with , one of my neighbours rung me up at lunchtime as he had a 20 acre field of spring barley straw that the bailing team had missed it was dry on the top but wet underneath would i have a go at chopping it ,40 foot combine  meant there was not many rows also not as much straw as there could have been ,i managed it by going slow as the wet lumps drained the 150hp i had , i then turned around and run over it again 3 gears higher ,it was chopped but not spread very well , on the way home in a 30 minute spell we had 15mm of rain

spent most of this afternoon stuck in traffic, 3 different accidents, on the 3 main 3 ways into plymouth, 2 roads closed, still are now since around 11.30 on one and 14.30 on the other and the 3rd now open but still suffering from most of the uk(certainly seems like it) trying to get round via it, only benefit was the temp van i have this week has air con, and a decent dab radio, so at least i was cool and had good music to listen to, almost want a lock down again,as those 3 months before july were bliss to get around.

it was, that was my best way back from bow and copplestone today sadly, took me 1 hr to get through the village, that or a 3 hr trip via exeter way as my mate went that way, as he had to drop something back in exeter and got stuck, another i met in the yard took 1 hr to get from carkeel to the st budeaux turn off, road across to callington was bad as was the way via princetown, so took a chance and just picked one. the tavi  road out yours is closed all night now as the substance has stripped the road surface as well it was that toxic

What do they call that cab on the 7610? We had a 6410 with thst style cab. Ive just bought a uh 6410 but with the super q cab I'd love to get it changed to that. Marshall sits so well. Stunning tractor.

the cab on the ford 7610 is called an AP cab Lee,which stands for all purpose cab,im sure they also did a low profile version of that cab as well

Tidy group there Paul, looking well. Does the 76 have bigger wheels on the front, she seems to be sat well up?

Cheers John, the 76 sat on 16.9/34's on the back and could be a 420/24 radial on the front... not 100% sure on the 420 but know they are radials, but i know what you mean it does lean back abit

Thanks Lee the Marshall my pride and joy, between the Ap cab on the 76 and my explorer, Sekura  used a lot of common parts, door handles, latches, window locks, Daves 76 is fitted with the old door handles off my  802 as his originals dont lock..

Back in September before the dammed rain set in we was getting along nicely ,this is my second season since Goody poked this plough into me ,i did wonder at the time if i really needed the variable width but when the going is good i can open it up and its then like having 6 furrows ,you can soon cover the ground
