robbo
How things have changed when you can describe that header as "tiny", at the risk of sounding like an old fart the last time I drove a combine it was a Claas Senator with a 10 foot header. Your usual fantastic quality pictures though David. ;)
The Tractor Twitcher
How things have changed when you can describe that header as "tiny", at the risk of sounding like an old fart the last time I drove a combine it was a Claas Senator with a 10 foot header. Your usual fantastic quality pictures though David. ;) Thanks ever so much Mike, really appreciated. I've had some very enjoyable trips out around South Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire borders....settled at last I reckon. It really is quite extraordinary just how large both the physical size of combines and the headers that are matched to them have now become. I used to think of combines such as the big New Holland TFs as massive on 20 to 25 foot headers as I was growing up. Absolutely nothing against the farmer's decision to specify his 780 with a V750 table, but did look ever so slightly strange to see a combine of such gargantuan proportions fitted with that particular header. It really did look small on the front of the 780. Even though i've captured some real "biggies" this harvest i've also enjoyed photographing several much smaller and older combines too, in particular the old Laverda 3700. The Tractor Twitcher
Last few of the 780 Lexion and it's sidekicks before moving onto what was making a lot of dust just behind where I now live on the same evening.
The Tractor Twitcher
So having nipped home for a quick refreshment break the plan was to head back to the same field of wheat and capture the 780 working through the sunset. However peering out of the back door I noticed another rather large cloud of dust, and just had to have walk and see what was making it. It turned out to be another big Lexion in the shape of this slightly older 580+ equipped with a V900 header in yet another huge field of O.S.R. I arrived just in time to watch the Sun go down. The Tractor Twitcher
Taken just before 10pm, not the best night time shots you're ever likely to see, but i'm still really pleased with them. The lights of Rotherham residing in the back ground.
Jdeere6910
You've taken some amazing sunset shots this year David, just a shame they are mostly lexions eh?
The Tractor Twitcher
You've taken some amazing sunset shots this year David, just a shame they are mostly lexions eh? Haha, they're everywhere! Thanks ever so much mate. It's certainly been worth waiting around towards the evening on several occasions despite the amount of cloud cover I seem to have encountered this year. I've had some fantastic trips out. The Tractor Twitcher
Next up from my harvest travels a tidy classic from the yellow brigade in the shape of this New Holland TX32 working near Ulley Reservoir just over a mile away from where I now live. It was being supported by this smart New Holland T6050 and Foster trailer..........not the last all New Holland harvesting outfit I would discover the evening of 22/08/2013. The Tractor Twitcher
Here's a brief intermission from the combines before I post photographs of my next harvest discovery. A John Deere 6534 Premium on hedge and verge cutting duties at my next location on the South Yorkshire / Nottinghamshire border.
The Tractor Twitcher
Having taken photographs of the New Holland TX32 in action I was very close to following my rumbling stomach home for tea. However I had one of those " i've never been down that back road before" moments and ended up catching sight of a New Holland T7.250 tractor and AS Marston trailer heading into a large field of wheat near the village of Woodsetts on the Nottinghamshire border. Which in turn allowed me the opportunity to discover my first New Holland CR9090 on tracks.... Having spoken to one of the tractor drivers I found out the big New Holland was having a rather temperamental evening, and at first I thought I wasn't going to see this impressive looking combine in action. However the local dealer had it replaced within the half hour with a near identical example and I was able to capture the second machine in action. What a monster! That's now tracked machines from Claas, Case IH, John Deere, and New Holland I have captured on my travels.
The Tractor Twitcher
Another selection of photographs from the example that was working properly being supported by one of three matching New Holland T7.250 tractors equipped with Philip Watkins front boxes and AS Marston trailers. This wouldn't be the last time I attended this location. Keep an eye on my tractor thread for two other hugely impressive machines working on this farm at the same venue. The Tractor Twitcher
Great pictures and good service back up from the dealer Thanks ever so much Ol, appreciated. Fully agree with you, excellent service from the dealer to keep them harvesting that evening. It was a very large block of wheat and they wanted to clear it that evening so they could drill O.S.R the very next day which they were able to do so. The Tractor Twitcher
Despite yet another grey afternoon on 23/08/2013 I was able to capture another large combine on tracks in the shape of this 12 plate Claas Lexion 760 Terra Trac working near Doncaster. The Tractor Twitcher
Back to the classics for my next three finds all discovered close to adjoining villages near Goole. Commencing with a combine you could hear for miles around. This majestic Massey Ferguson 755 harvesting at Whitgift. What a beast!

The Tractor Twitcher
She looks clean, you certainly get around the combines David It certainly looked to be in very tidy order James, and came with a lovely sound track too. Absolutely chuffed to bits to have found a 755 on my travels having photographed a fully restored 865 last year. I'd really love to find an older 750 or 760 to capture in action now. I've been very fortunate to discover the variety of combines I have over the past few year. I think i've photographed somewhere around 150 different machines working and i'm continuously looking for any other interesting or unusual variations i've yet to photograph. The Tractor Twitcher
Discovered at the very next village along.......low and behold, another lovely old Massey Ferguson in the shape of this very tidy 565 that has been on the same farm since new. This is the second 565 i've discovered on my travels this summer and was being supported by an equally smart Massey Ferguson 3115 and AS Marston trailer. The Tractor Twitcher
Moving onto the very next village along, Adlingfleet, I was able to capture a combine I will never become tired of photographing on my travels. New Holland's TX36. This is the fourth tidy example of this particular combine I have found on my harvest voyages.
The Tractor Twitcher
Whilst just around the corner harvesting near the village of Fockerby I discovered another impressive modern machine in the shape of this brand new John Deere S680i combine, my final find from 23/08/2013.
