Valley Axe Man Posted October 10, 2019 Share Posted October 10, 2019 Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works as this is a step in the right direction getting a few vintage tractors on general release from a good manufacturer but aren't the headlights in the grilles on super's unless based on euro spec which still had headlights on the sides... I think you are right there Paul but that is understandable, maybe a uk spec version might follow. I see they have a euro style hitch as well. justy 46 Posted October 10, 2019 Share Posted October 10, 2019 The majority of Dextas here in Ireland have the headlights in the grill ..I don't think I've ever seen a Dexta that had headlights outside the grill in the flesh.. Super or not...Marge are Dutch...so they will go mainland Europe spec I presume. But as said above by Paul...its still a step in the right direction .. I think the early build Dextas had side mounted headlights like the majors and power majors. I have seen quite a few over the years, in fact around here anyway most dextas had/have the early headlight mounts. Had a chat with the local tyre man who also collects 1/32 Agri gear and he confirmed the Vredesteins are wrong, he said the tread pattern is from modern cross ply tyres and he didn't think they were around then anyway, or at least not over here. Ih etc. The 3 main tyres they were supplied on were 1 Goodyear traction sure grip 2 firestone gumdipped f151 and 3 Dunlop field master the dexta never came on ANYTHING else but those vredestein want even about then I remember all tyre types of my childhood ha ha! I always associated lights mounted in the outside off the grill on Ford & Fordson tractors as export models as such ..But you right in what you are saying Steve...I have since learned that's not the case on early Dexta and Majors. And looking on the DoneDeal website here in Ireland ..it has quiet a few early models with that style off headlights..Its just something I never took much notice off.. The only small difference is the original good year sure grips were stamped MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN and the new versions have MADE IN EUROPE stamped but same original thread pattern the UH 1/32 mf35x has the correct tyres fitted but def not this dexta but easily fixed I'd say Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I thought they had stopped making ag tyres altogether. Good news for anyone restoring a tractor and wanting period rubber. At first there was to be only 1000 sets of 11x28s made and only sold in England by BRITISH RUBBER Co and in NI by JB tyres I got a set on my 135 right away someone will buy the name or something some good year car tyres were made in China by an outside company and were total crap. Pity as the GOOD YEAR name was always associated with Britain and like MF, IH, DB, FORD once carried the reputation of total excellency. The tractors britain produced were legendary and still going strong, they were built to last and its been proven times over when being produced all above manufacturers bought local, Goodyear etc for tyres, butlers for lights, etc etc Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I take it presumably that the guys at Marge may well have measured up and copied a certain Dexta with different size tyres and what ever else. Most Dextas these days will not be the orginal tractor they were over 60 years ago obviously.
